Jon-Fa's/Jonfas is a small cattery focusing on the Oriental Shorthair, Colorpoint Shorthair and Siamese. We are located in La Union, New Mexico just outside of El Paso, Tx. We registered our cattery with TICA as Jon-Fa's in 1979 and CFA as Jonfas in 1988.
Our goal is to produce healthy and loving kittens and that will go to homes where they will be loved and pampered be they for show, breeding or companion.
We are very discriminate in our breeding program. We breed for health, a loving disposition and type (confirmation) according to the written standard for the breeds. Our cats are rasied uncaged as members of our family recieving most of our attention. The kittens are handled from the day they are born on a daily basis, as this can ensure a well socialized kitten for their new home. Many people have asked about the different kinds of quality (show, breeder, pet). My personal feeling is that there are two different types: those that meet the written standard and those that do not. Our main priorty is a loving home for them.

Another way to learn about cats is by attending a cat show. In my area we have TICA shows and CFA shows not to far away. Shows are a wonderful way to see the many different breedsrecognized for Championship status, as well as see the new breeds currently under development.
In addition many associations allow showing Household Pets, those wonderful companions we have at home.TICA,as do others allow for registering household pets and they can compete for titles, as well as regional and international awards. Some cat shows also have seminars on health, care, grooming, genetics, clerking and judging.
Generally there are vendors at these shows where people may purchase everything you can imagine to pamper your precious pet. So locate a show close to you and go have some fun.
Cats are closely linked to the people they call their own. They want to share everything with you, when you are busy they want all your attention at that moment and you WILL give in and do as they ask. In calm or sad times they will always be there for you with no questions asked.
Everbody should work together to improve their breed of choice, thewelfare of all cats and help promote good will throughout the cat fancy and world.
