Biography

Kristen Johnston was raised in the Midwest, in Milwaukee, WI, with her younger sister and older brother, although she was born on September, 20 1967 in Washington DC.

Kristen spent a large part of her teen years travelling as an exchange student to Sweden and South America.

Kristen Johnston recently won her secound Emmy Award (1997 and 1999) for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series after being nominated three consecutive years. Her performance in this role has also earned her Golden Globe, SAG and American Comedy Award nominations as well.

Kristen Johnston began acting in comunity and school theater productions. After earning her degree in drama from New York University, She made her professional stage debut with the Atlantic Theater Company, Founded by David Marmet. During her long association with the company, she was featured in such productions as "OverRuled,""As You Like It," "Girl's Talk,""Portrait Of A Women," and lots more. While living in New York, Kristen found non-stop theatre work, somtimes performing in three different plays at three different places in the same night.

She Performed with Naked Angels Theater Company as well as New York Stage and Film and PlayWrights Horizon. It was her role as a bitter, drunken New Yorker during one night of her life in "The Lights" that not only garnered her a Drama Desk Nomination, but also brought her to the attention of an executive Carsey-Werner, who recomended her the role of "Sally" in the sitcom 3rd Rock From The Sun. Some of the cast from 3rd Rock are, Kristen Johnston as "Sally Soloman",John Lithgaw as "Dick Soloman", French Stewart as "Harry Soloman", Joseph Gorden-Levitt as "Tommy Soloman", Jane Curtin as "Dr. Marry Albright", Wayne Knight as "officer Don Orville" , Simbi Khali as "Nina Cambell", Elmarie Wendel as "Mrs Mammie Dubcek", and Larissa Oleynik as "Alissa StrudWick".

Kristen made her feature film debut in "The Debt," which won Best Short at the Cannes Film Festival. Her television credits include guest apperences on "Chicago Hope," "Hearts AFire," and "The five Mrs.Buchanan's." Kristen also played opposite Kelsey Grammer in the Made-For-Television movie "London Suite."

This past summer, Kristen appeared in the blockbuster movie "Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me" and filmed the role of Wilma in "The Flinstones In Viva Rock Vegas," a prequil to the first Flinstone movie.

Kristen currently lives in Los Angeles with her three dogs. She enjoys hiking, traveling and serving the intrestes and well-being of animals.
