Features of Diablo 2

• 5 new characters Amazon, Necromancer, Paladin, Barbarian and Sorceress, each of the new character class will have its own, new special spells and abilities.
• 4 complete different towns, and each town is up to 8 times larger then Tristram.
• A lot of dungeons, caverns and crypts in every town for players to explore.
• New quests, weapons, spells, armor, monsters and non-player characters wich you can hire to fight among your side.
• A new combat system which includes class-specific fighting techniques and spells.
• Over 20 new quests.
• Single player quests will also be available in multiplayer play.
• A run feature will be added.
• Over 30 new villagers and other non-player characters to communicate.
• True transparencies rather than dithered.
• More multiplayers supported (8, In Diablo only 4).
• More realistic lighting and shadowing effects, and no loading times when warping to a new level.
• Day and night will cycle to make the atmosphere a lot cooler.
• Warrior classes will not be able to learn spells or use staves.
• A complete new system on battle.net that will make it difficult to cheat.
• Difficulty levels will be taken out of the game, because the further you come, the more difficult the game will be.
• On the Diablo II front, we recently announced that Diablo II would include 3Dfx-enhanced features. Diablo II's 3Dfx support improves the game's frame rate, as well as the general quality of lighting and other visual effects.
• New attributes to add bp's to such as karma and wisdom, which will affect the game in interesting ways (i.e. how NPCs react to you, etc.)
• Size of inventory will depend on one's character class. Ties in with the above. The fighter can carry more than the sorceress, obviously. Makes one wonder what benefits the sorceress gets in return.
• Multiple endings.
• Appearance changes with each switch of equipment, even if both are swords. More realistic, and will also help when one is trying to scout out another player. Very useful.
• Beta Test on November 98 <-- more of a rumour really but hey thats the word that is out.
• The towns of Diablo II will be varied but interesting. A monastery, a snow-covered area, and volcanic terrain are just a few of the places that you will need to traverse in your quest. Information on the NPCs will also be stored here.
• All new b/net options an online trading post and world wide rankings.
• Cheating problems which plagued Diablo will be nonexistent due to encryption and data security.
• Day and night cycles, with the properties of some rare items being influenced by the time of day.
• Complete skill trees that are unique for each class.
• Component art. When your character puts something on, you can see it more acurately represented on the character.
• Outside, Inside, Subteranean -- all these areas are connected and you can move between them without level loads. That's right, no more waiting for the level to load!!
• Hire mercenaries to travel with you for 500 gold a day.
• New interface with a larger game view and no status bar.
