On the date of January 25,1951, was born the greatest runner in American history, his name was Steve Prefontaine. He was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon. In high school Pre was all ready setting high school records, including the world record he set his senior year. He set the high school world record in the 2mi at the time of 8:41 breaking it by more than a second.
Not only was Pre recognized by his intimidating stare but by his brash attitude as well.
Pre was also known for his gutty running style, Unlike todays runners pre would run his whole race all out, he would put himself through pain durring a race that no other human being would be able to handle.
