The Home of Bronson

01/26/2004
So it's been 3 months since i updated.
That's pretty bad even by my standards.

Conveniently tonight finds me bored outta my skull & looking to kill some time, and also after 12 weeks of waiting, Mongo made the 10th request that i had asked for.
Narns, Shane, Kyle & I took a shot up to Montreal this past weekend to check out the Habs vs. the Leafs, so i'm also packin a few new pictures.

As pretty much anybody familiar with Bronson is well aware, seeing a Canadiens game live in Montreal has been a dream of mine pretty much the entire time i've been alive. With this in mind i was able to be talked into spending a ridiculous $500 total to head up for one night this past Saturday. While the game itself was average at best, the Bell Centre and the atmosphere pretty much blew me away. The place is fackin' huge & we were in the nosebleeds with a few thousand wild-ass leaf fans.
Bein' the sap for hockey history that i am, i was particularly impressed with all of the cup banners and the jerseys of the retired greats... the great amount of which we couldn't have seen anywhere else, like say... Boston.
The only real downside was the fucking meathead behind us that was in a Jigger-like state of drunkeness and spilled what i would estimate (without exaggeration) to be six beers on myself, Shane & Arnie.
He had me losin' it, but even i'm not Cape Breton enough to get tossed out of my only Habs game.

Perhaps the coolest part of the entire trip was the wait in the Montreal airport for Arnie who was 4 hours behind the rest of us. While we sat there & bitched out Arn for at least the last 2 hours, it turned out be a blessing in disguise as when we hit the baggage claim to pick Narn up, we came face to face with Hall of Famer Steve Shutt, linesman Ray Scapinello, Ron Maclean and how cool is this??
DON FUCKING CHERRY!!!
I'm not generally an overly excitable person, but the second i saw Grapes i started to giggle like a schoolgirl & sweat like a penguin in Africa. I wouldn't be overly impressed by meeting the Prime Minister, the Queen, or even Seth Cohen... but to me, meeting Don Fucking Cherry is a monumental event.

Grapes was cool with us. He shook our hands, did the picture thing with us, talked for a second and even tossed out an empty promise to say hi to Cape Breton on air that night.

While this was going on, Arnie who was trapped in the baggage claim with the Coach and didn't say a word to him, was looking for his bag and never got within 100 feet of him.
While i was too happy for myself to worry about Arn... the event led to 24 hours of Arn muttering "pricks" under his breath at random intervals.

Rockin as the rink, the game, and meeting Cherry were... Montreal held it's own as a city too.
Despite the wicked-ass cold (Me and Arn stopped to buy toques less than 2 blocks from the hotel), we had a pretty good time struttin around the city and inspecting the Francophone Burger King.
Of note, we couldn't go 10-feet without bumping into a scalper ($250 per ticket), or a guy trying to get us into a strip club... which lead to the bitchin line "Don't go into that place... The Girls Got Pits So Hairy It Looks Like They Gots Niggers With Dreads In A Headlock".
I cannot overexaggerate however, how damn cold this walking made us. When i spoke i could feel the saliva on my tongue solidify, a sensation i have not experienced before in 23 Canadian winters, and thousands of outdoor hockey games.

I've gotta get out of here and ref some intramurals, but i just might try & get active on the page again... no promises though. I will promise to get up a few pictures from our trip tonight or tomorrow, and to hook on a few pictures from Dawn & Crystal next week. Betwixt the fact i haven't updated in 3 months, and this being BurMac week, it shouldn't be too hard to find something to run my mouth about.

Oh.. and if you read this, lemme know with e-mail, messenger, the guestbook... whatever. I know i've tried this before and failed miserably but i'd like to know who my audience is at this point in time.

The Offical "Home of Bronson" BurMac Prediction:
6-2 Burke Victory

Later,
Bronson
