Chandan Das is one of the most popular & profolic performers who
is being heard & talked about today in the world of ghazal singing. Born on the 12th of March 1956, Chandan, with his inborn instinct came under the influence and tutelage of Ustad Moosa Khan at the tender age of eight. He also took further training of classical music from Pandit Mani Prasad of Delhi a great stalwart and purist of the highest realm. Chandan's first album Introducing... Chandan Das was released in 1982 when Mr. Talat Aziz, A famous Ghazal singer himself, discovered & introduced Chandan to Music India Ltd. The album was an instant hit, Chandan Das has never looked back ever since. He has to-date released many LP records, cassettes and CD's through Music India Ltd, T-Series and Padmini Music which include several popular ghazal. He has composed music for all his albums and has sung and composed for many popular T.V. Serials and T.V. Films. Chandan Das has given innumerable live performances not only all over India but also abroad. His Shows have been highly appreciated, applauded and raved about by the audiences who have heard him. He has created a nitce in the hears of the masses and stands like a pillar amongst the doyen of ghazal singers in the present era. Chandan's compositions and ghazals are of a high order and the rendering is well balanced, flawless and of clear diction. Chandan's efforts have been rewarded through many awards coming his way from the first 'Best New Ghazal Singer of 1983' to the two prestigious SUMU awards under the categories of 'Best Ghazal' and 'The Best Ghazal Singer of 1993' for his album 'Deewangi'. He can truly say that he has come a long way. Chandan's forte is his unmistakably distinctive voice which has a warm personal appeal and comes across so powerful and expressive that no one cannot help being totally captivated by it. |
