Late summer in Madripoor. On the trail of the Hand, Logan joins in when he spots an unknown costumed American (Captain America) trying to defend a Russian man (Ivan Petrovitch) from the Hand. As Logan later told them: "Figured any enemy of theirs is a potential friend of mine."

The three men formed a team rather quickly as Ivan needed help in rescuing the young Natasha Alianovna Romanoff (the future Black Widow) who had been left in his charge. One of Hitler's operatives, Baron Strucker, had already had the girl abducted. Logan spotted Strucker and deliberately bumped into him to make sure he had his scent to help them find her.

The trio did find the girl, but the rescue didn't quite go as planned. Logan had to shield Natasha from bullets when the Nazis tried to assassinate her rather than allow her to be rescued. He was left for dead as Ivan and Cap rushed Natasha to the American Consulate. Unfortunately, the Consulate was a Nazi sympathizer who turned them over to Baron Strucker.

For all the details, I recommend getting the issue, but in a nutshell, Logan interrupts combined plans of the Hand and the Nazis by showing up at an bad time (for them). Between his use of a 'borrowed' Hand katana, Cap's shield and Ivan's marksmanship, they get themselves and young Natasha free and to the airport, where Logan stays behind as Cap goes with Ivan and Natasha to make sure they make it safely back to Russia.
