Welcome
LETTER FROM BUFFALO BOB BREWSTER
There is a movement coming in this country...
Fellow Trappers:
There is a movement in this country that will greatly divide those that participate in the trapping industry. If we, as trappers, do not head off this movement and guide it and direct it into it's proper prospective, then we as individual trappers will have a hard row to hoe. In this movement there will be several different groups that will be looking out for the interest in their own associations. The movement that I refer to is the groups that are being formed for the animal damage control industry. At the present time, the most outspoken of these groups is the N.W.C.O.A. If you have access to a computer, check this association out very carefully. You will find that they have, to some extent, become bed partners with the Humane Society of the United States. The reason for this is that the N.W.C.O.'s that are being formed will need the help of the H.S.U.S. to help them get bills passed that will let the N.W.C.O.'s goals be advanced to the point that corporations can and will be formed to the end result as to their being able to earn monies and for these monies or profits to be in such an amount as to afford them to have a business that will grow and give them a return on the capitol expenditure. I for one feel that all trappers and N.W.C.O.'s can fullfill all of their agenda's by the forming of their state association to include both the sports trapper and the A.D.C. people. By doing this, both groups would have one association and one voice and can come to a plan or program that could suit the needs of both groups of people. Remember the recent bills in congress to seperate the sports trapper from the animal damage control part of trapping? This was part of the humane society's agenda to set up their agenda and to allow them to stop sports trapping altogether. When they have fulfilled that goal, then they can start their attacks on their bed partners, because it fits their agenda as to eliminating all trapping, thus allowing only the government to manage the population of wildlife in this country, as other government's such as Holland do now. Do we as trappers want this to happen here? When we can and must come up with a solution that will allow for both the sports trapper and the A.D.C. industry also. So I would ask all trappers to work together to develop or come up with solutions as to this pending threat. For us here in Tennessee, a simple solution would be to have an independent association to work with T.W.R.A. as to set up a program that can fulfill the needs of both the sports trapper and the A.D.C. permit holders. And to have the A.D.C. association to be part of your state trapping association or a seperate organization to run along side of your state trapping association. As to the people that says that the state trapping associations are a non profit organization, I say does not the member that belongs to it make a profit from the furs that he sells at auction? The only difference being, the A.D.C. person would not be allowed to sell the fur that may be acquired while doing A.D.C. work. I would have someone explain as to the difference. There is no difference as to the sports trapper or the A.D.C. profits and the state trapping associations remaining a non profit organizaiton. Only that it can have one voice to work for the sports trapper and the A.D.C. alike, to ensure that all legislation can be directed to the benefit of all it's membership thus bringing harmony to all in the trapping industry.
Sincerely,
A fellow trapper,
B.F. Brewster, Sr.
