Callisto

Callisto was a young girl of Cirrae when Xena's men attacked her village and killed her family. If it wasn't for Iolaus saving her from the fire in "Armaggeddon Now," an episode of Hercules, she would have died as well. Callisto started building up strength and skills as fighting until she matched Xena but no matter what, Xena always won as a mortal. Callisto then poisoned Hercules' family to convince him to aid her in the search for the golden apple, which she found and made herself immortal. Still, Xena always won. It wasn't until Hercules trapped Callisto in an underground cave where the only way out was by rope which she didn't have, when she was gone for a long time. She was released in "A Necessary Evil" where Xena and Gabrielle needed her help to defeat Velaska, an amazon gone goddess. In the end of that episode, Callisto became a goddess by taking some of Velaska's ambrosia and they fell itno a lava pit with aid from Xena.

Soon, Gabrielle's child, Hope, released Callisto when she was young in hopes to kill Xena and Gabrielle which only resulted in the death of Hope and Solan, Xena's son. Callisto was, again, trapped in a cave for a whlie until Hope's ashes took mortal form of a demon and she released Callisto. Callisto attempted to kill Hercules' mother but failed. After that, it was on and off a few episodes for Callisto until The Sacrafice where she took part in the death of Hope and Callisto, in turn, was killed by Xena using the Hind's Blood Dagger. At the end of the 4th season, in Ides of March, Callisto returned from Hell to save Caesar from assasination and to insure Xena turning to the way of love which she failed by both and hopefully, returned to her seat in Hell. Callisto, in the new season, was brought back in a battle between hell and heaven. Xena gave up her light and place in heaven to forgive Callisto and in the end, Callisto was happily reunited with her parents and lived her afterlife with the angels in heaven, where I feel, she belonged from the very beginning.

In tribute to Callisto, I found this montage on the top of the page to say farewell.
