Armored Core: Project Phantasma is an add-on game to the original Armored Core. It has some new features and improvements which make it a worthy add-on. Unfortunely, this game is only currently available in Japan. No word yet on an English translation. Here is some of the new stuff that's in the game:
Project Phantasma is not concentrated on missions though. It's more an arena game. The arena replaces the rank section in the original AC. This time instead of 10 ACs, there are 49 ACs you have to fight against to reach the top. You can only challenge the AC ranked above you. You can either choose the arena or let the computer choose it randomly. The fights do get intense and the higher ranked ACs can be tough to beat. Some of the ACs are even plus.
As you beat the higher ranked ACs you get an increased amount of credits and an occasional new part. Another added feature in the arena is the replays after the battle is over. You can study your opponents moves, study your own mistakes, or just watch some intense AC action. You can also switch views during replays. The arena mode is what the original AC was lacking and it's here in Project Phantasma.
There is one problem with Project Phantasma. You need the Japanese Armored Core to be able to use some of the parts and become plus. The secret parts and the parts that were added in the original Armored Core are not readily available in Project Phantasma. You need your old saved game in the Japanese Armored Core to be able to use the parts. For example, if you have an old saved game that is plus and has all the parts, when you load it on Project Phantasma, everything is there.
