Beastie Boys news

98.3.23 NEW ALBUM INFO!!!!! band, which is currently working on its fifth (and hopefully not last) album, said that this album was much different from anything they have done so far. Full MTV report here ALso, a big tour is planned at some point in '98. WIll keep y'all posted. 98. 3.16 some of the earliest bands have been announced for the Tibetan Freedom concert this June 13 and 14 in Washington D.C. Those involved are Radiohead , Beck, and a tribe called quest. However, whether or not the Beastie boys will play or not is unclear.


98. 3.16- MTV will be airing Sure Shot on its 12 angry viewers program. Great video, placed only 353 on their all time countdown. Receives a good rating from the viewers. Check it out. At 5:30-6.


98.03.06 - Grand Royal is saying that the Beastie Boys album should come out in June. However, they are not done recording it yet so who knows..


98.02.06 - The Beastie Boys are one of this year's honorees for Rock the Vote's Patrick Lippert Awards, which are given to artists who have made significant contributions to society. The Beastie Boys were chosen this year for their immeasurable work for Tibetan causes, which includes co-founding the Milarepa Fund, which presents the annual Tibetan Freedom Concerts.


98.01.24 - The Beastie Boys will be among the artists interviewed on Rolling Stone's 30th anninversary special, which will air in May on ABC.


98.01.23 - Ricky Powell has announced the release of his book of rap photography on St. Martin's press, Oh Snap!, featuring ten years with the Beastie Boys, Run D.M.C. and many others.


98.01.09 - selected artist performances/Interviews from the '97 Tibetan Freedom Concert here . There's 10 minutes of Beastie Boys RealVideo footage which includes "So What'cha Want, New Style, Root Down and Time to Get Ill," plus the entire 52 minute Beastie Boys performance in RealAudio.


97.12.15 - DEMOLITION! Grand Royal #6 made its way to the news stands, record stores, and head shops worldwide. Highlights includes the first annual all-girls skate jam, building your own Atari games, obsessing about the '80s movie "The Fabulous Stains," a drum spectacular featruing interviews Clyde Stubblefield, Jabbo Starks, Sly & the Family Stone's Gregg Errico, and the mysterious death of Stax drummer Al Jackson Jr., a Busta Rhymes interviews Rudy Ray Moore (a/k/a Dolemite), NBA/WBA coverage, PLUS building and destroying the Grand Royal demolition-derby car. Complete with pull-out 1998 calendar! Although this has little to nothing to do with the beastie Boys, it was given to me, so I put it down.

97.11.20: The Beastie Boys will contribute the track, "Start!" to the tribute album for the Jam. The track has already been recorded and the Jam tribute album is slated for release sometime in '98 by A&M.


97.11.14: The Beastie Boys were in London this week to launch their Grand Royale Label. They celebrated the opening of their London office with a special party attended by the Dust Junkys, Sneaker Pimps, Audioweb and the Wildhearts.


97.11.05: Mike D and Yauch made their appearance on MTV Live yesterday. Highlights included the Beasties talking a bit about the new Tibetan Freedom Concert CD (in stores NOW!!) and winning gift certificates by making Matt Pinfield sweat.
