I had a great birthday. My dad picked me up on Friday and we went home by way of the mall where we didn't buy anything because we were too busy watching all the little kids trick or treat up and down the middle of the mall. Then Friday night me and my dad and Rene went to see "What Dreams May Come" (I don't recommend it.) and then Saturday Morning I opened presents (lots of good stuff) and then we went out to breakfast and then we went shopping (took back some of the not-so-good stuff and got even better stuff) and then we went home (umm... this "we" is me and my mom and my dad.) and me and my dad played Star Wars Trivial Pursuit (one of my presents) while my mom made stuffing and mashed potatoes and salad and corn (and ham for the carnivores) and then my Grandma came over to eat with us.

Then was the best part-- I got dressed up. I wore a green jumper, black turtleneck, white half-apron, and red hooded cape. I was a fairy-tale peasant or Little Red Riding Hood or Old Mother Hubbard or a witch, depending on who you asked. It didn't really matter. Then I went over and took the kids I baby-sat all last year out trick-or-treating. Actually, I started out taking the little one out. He was a pirate, and he kept telling me "I wanna go to Halloween! Can we go to Halloween now?" ...and I think he was talking about the party at the fire hall, but after he figured out he could walk up to a door and they'd give him candy he got over that. We met up with his sister and her dad while we were out. We trick-or-treated for about an hour and a half, until the little guy started making me carry his candy so he could put his hands inside his sleeves. Then we headed toward the fire hall, where he ran around in circles looking at everyone else's costumes and using his plastic sword to threaten all the monsters. (he'll be three this week, by the way.) None of us won anything for our costumes, which I thought was a shame. But we had the best time. At least I did.

Their mom still looks pretty good. She got her hair cut, because she's expecting to lose it. She hasn't started the chemo yet, but on last Thursday she got a port put in to make it easier for them to give her the medicine. And they only did a lumpectomy when they did the first surgery, so that part of it isn't even noticable. I guess right now they're thinking they probably caught it in time and that she'll be just fine... but it's still really scary. And she's going to get really sick once she does start the chemo. But right now she looks okay. I was kind of surprised.

Ugh. I'd write more but I have to go get my laundry out of the dryer and put it away and then meet some people from one of my classes to study for our test and then I have to go to bed, the sooner the better.
