The 6-year-old son of a Houston Police officer was with her during a drug deal earlier this week in the Spring area, authorities said.

Jasmine Renee Bonner, 26, is charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. She is in the Montgomery County Jail with bail set at $1 million.

Lt. Brady Fitzgerald, with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, said Bonner was part of a drug deal where a kilogram of cocaine traded hands. The deal occurred about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday near the 25000 block of Interstate 45, near Rayford. Bonner was later arrested during a traffic stop, authorities said. Her son was in the back seat of her car.

Derryck Collins, 32, also was arrested and faces similar drug charges. He is in jail without bail.

At a news conference Thursday, Houston Police Department Chief Charles McClelland briefly discussed Bonner's arrest.

"This has been a lengthy ongoing investigation and we continue to investigate that with multiple law enforcement agencies," he said. "This was started by members of the internal affairs division."
