There is a new place to ride - West Mountain State Forest, in towns of Union Vale, Beekman and Dover.
This land encompasses 850 acres with logging roads, abandoned road to Pawling and a lake. As this was just acquired by DEC, trails may not be cleared as of yet, plan to walk it on foot before you take the horses. You can access this land through towns of Beekman and Dover at the end of Gardner Hollow Road where it meets Old Penney Road. There is a DEC parking area there. Check out the road condition for trailers beforehand, rough road.
Also Oblong Trail Association in Pawling has gotten 100 miles of trails through Quaker Hill and extending into Connecticut for their trail system. Plans are being made for a trail ride to introduce this trail system. Membership is now available by calling 845-855-0693 or email: Oblong Trail Association. They have a printed membership application listing fees.
