Materials needed are one 4-ounce skein of 4-ply yarn in desired
color, or use scraps of knitting worsted or rug yarn; crochet
hook size G, H, or K; a small piece of dowel or a pencil for center
post, small dixie cup or styrofoam for base; small angel for top
of tree and ornaments or small pompoms in variety of colors to
decorate.
TOP SECTION:
RND 1: Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring, ch 1, 10 sc
in ring, join.
RND 2: Ch 3, 5 dc in each sc around. Join
RND 3: Ch 3, 5 dc in each dc around. Join and break off.
2nd SECTION:
RND 1: Ch 4, join with a sl st to form ring, ch 1, 10 sc in
ring, join.
RND 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each sc around, join.
RND 3: Ch 3. 3 dc in each round, join
RND 4: Ch 3, 3dc in each dc around, join, break off
3rd SECTION:
RND 1: Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 1, 10 sc
in ring, join.
RND 2: Ch 3, 2dc in each sc around, join.
RND 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join.
RND 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join.
RND 5: Ch 3, 3 dc in each dc around, join, break off.
4th SECTION:
RND 1: Ch 4, join with sl st tto form ring. Ch 1, 10 sc
in ring, join.
RND 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each sc around, join.
RND 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join.
RND 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join.
RND 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join.
RND 6: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around, join, break off.
TO ASSEMBLE: Put a small wooden dowel (or pencil) into
a piece of plastic foam or dixie cup. Slip sections down on this,
the largest one first. Hang small 1/4 glass balls on the
tree or glue pompoms around. Glue Angel on top.
You may also crochet two of the top sections in brightly colored
yarn and tie these two together to make a ball for your family
Christmas Tree.
