| This intersection was vastly reconfigured over the last decade of the 20th century to fit a direct connection to NY Route 878, AKA the Nassau Expressway, seen below. Sooner or later, maybe in the 22nd century, the Nassau will totally override the rest of Rockaway Boulevard south of here. For now, it is more like a boulevard than an expressway, remaining shackled to very un-expressway-like traffic signals between here and the JFK Expressway interchange to the west. Shot July 2000. |
