undefined A Day at the Races...
2000 Canadian Superbike Series, Autodrome St-Eustache, Quebec Canada
words by lawrence peters/ pics by parker peters

At a track outside Montreal in the country... my first race of the year. I was in heaven...

First, I caught Steve Crevier, AMA and Canadian Superbike legend
taking a break before practice

and got him to sign my shirt. I first met him last year at the 1999 AMA Pike's Peak round of Superbike.
He was retiring; it was his last AMA race and he was in the pits when I walked up and got him to sign my shirt.
So when I saw him this year I told him that it was great he's back in Canada and that I'd been here a year and loved it.
He seemed surprised and asked me a lot of questions on why I loved it here, so I was totally honest about it.
He thought that that was pretty cool. Canada rocks!

The pits are always the best place to be, even on  a soggy day like this. We wandered over
and met Joel MacDonald, Honda Rider and of course he's the nicest guy.

He was kinda bugged out to sign my shirt. I didn't know if he thought I was a nut, but was genuinely proud to sign my shirt.
His girlfriend thought it was pretty funny. Note what the Racer's Windex + Munchkins diet will do to ya.

Here's a shot of him out on his Honda CBR600F4 on the track for practice,
the only part of the day it stayed at least moderately dry:

Brooklin Cycles bikes in the pits.

1999 Open Sportbike Champion Benoit Pilon signs my shirt. I met him last year at the MotoMondial fest.

Sweet.

Very informal.

Wow.

Ready for practice.

A totally modern facility.

Practice.

Practice.

When the whistle's went off to announce "Three Minutes" it began to pour, pour, pour.
The racing continued all afternoon. Francis Martin just takes off, kicked everyones ass in the wet, just opens up a gap and goes.
Despite getting drowned, the crowd cheered them on, the racers defied the
Gods of Traction and hung on until the end.
It just makes you want more.
Thanks everyone.
I'll be back.
