Unlike most animes, the Escaflowne manga (comic) followed the series, instead of the otherway around. Also different, it got two instead of one, a shonen and a shojo manga, meaning one for boys and one for girls. Currently, the shonen version, by Katsu Aki is being released by Tokyo Pop. The picture on this page is the cover of Volume One. For me, it was extremely difficult, nearly impossible to find, until i stumbled upon it in a video game store. For some reason, Barnes and Noble doesn't seem to have it, even though it's manga section has expanded greatly in recent months. After finally acquiring it, I suppose it was worth the wait, though it certainly is very shonen (not that I mind, it's just Hitomi's new look... well, I'll explain later). Though similar to the storyline of the anime, there are differences to the extent where it requires a whole separate character guide! And I'll try to provide some pictoral aids as well for your viewing pleasure.
