Hitting: Zeile is one of the game's ultimate guess hitters. He isn't afraid to sit on a pitch, and he isn't afraid to hit down in the count. He rarely swings at first pitches. However, he will change that approach against the elite pitchers, looking for that first-pitch fastball and hoping to get a good swing. He showed he still can drive the ball last season, and he fit well into Coors Field, where he could take advantage of the large outfield gaps. Baserunning & Defense: After two years at first base with the Mets, Zeile returned to third base last season. The Rockies didn't have an alternative, and to Zeile's credit, he accepted the challenge. Still, defense can be a problem for him. He has to cheat in because of a lack of arm strength, which restricts his already limited range. The first-step quickness also isn't there. His arm is accurate, but there isn't a lot of carry. While Zeile is below average in terms of speed, he has a feel for the game and will take the extra base.
