Becky's Bears©--Stately Bears

We are pleased to announce that Becky's Bears© is now an authorized dealer of Stately Bears, a new line of bean-filled bears designed for collectibility, educational value and just plain fun!

Each bear, named and designed around a unique characteristic of one of our fifty states, will feature a tag with factual information about the state the bear is named for and much more information about that particular state will be available on their website. We hope the bears will encourage kids to learn more about the United States, and at the same time will be fun to collect.

Our goal is to release a bear for every state by December 2000. To reach that goal, we'll be releasing three bears every month from December 1999 - June 2000; we'll be releasing four bears every month from July 2000 -November 2000; and we'll finish up by releasing five bears December 1,2000.

Each bear will be limited to only 25,000 made!

Just announced! The next three bears in the series are Massachusettes, New York, and New Jersey!

As soon as I get pictures of them, I will post them and start taking preorders.

All three of these bears are in stock now!

Willamette the Oregon Bear is a light brown bear and it features a covered wagon on its chest, as well as the name of the state. The Willamette Valley was the destination for many settlers travelling west on the Oregon Trail in the 1840s. Hundreds arrived in the years that followed the initial settlement of the Valley, leading to the establishment of the Oregon Territory in 1848, and admission to the Union in 1859.

Slater the Rhode Island Bear is a light blue bear and it features the Slater Mill Historic Site on its chest, as well as the name of the state embroidered in black. The Slater Mill is widely recognized as the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution and the first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill in America. Today the Slater Mill Historic Site, located in Pawtucket, makes a wonderful destination for children and adults alike who want to see an operating 19th century machine shop. Open to the public during regular hours, temporary exhibits increase appreciation of textile production as well as historical and contemporary fiber arts. For more information, visit the Slater Mill Historic Site's website at www.slatermill.org. We are pleased to have the approval of the Slater Mill Historic Site to use the Slater name for our Rhode Island bear.

Beacon the Maine Bear is a royal blue bear which features the famous Portland Head Light embroidered on its chest, and the state name embroidered in white. The Portland Head Light, located at Cape Elizabeth, was the first lighthouse built in Maine, and is a well known symbol of Maine's rich maritime heritage.
