Nancy's Hummingbird Syrup

microwave version - food for hummingbirds

Use a micro-safe HUGE measuring cup filled with only water;
micro for 10 minutes;
use a 4 parts water to 1 part pure, granulated sugar mixture
then microwave for another 10 minutes.
Now, what I have is simple syrup.
I then place this in a refrigerator container that has a spout,
and is tightly sealed - then, into the fridge.

CLEAN THE FEEDERS!

Unfortunately, neighbor's have not been cleaning their hummer containers out ALL Spring, Summer, Autumn long! They purchase enormous feeders; fill them to the overflowing brim, then leave them out for the poor, unsuspecting hummer to become contaminated, ill, and possibly die from the negligence !!

We have numerous feeders on our land, but do not use these HUGE feeders - refilling them every 3 days or so in the hottest months or during extremely high humidity seems to keep them free from contaminants.
