A Steubenville man is dead after shots rang out on tha 500 block of Logan Street early Saturday Morning.
wisegod Allah, 27, formerly known as Grier Montgomery, was found lying on tha sidewalk on Logan Street about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to a Steubenville Police Department report, several shell casings were found on Logan Street. Also, 3 cars were hit, puncturing one of tha cars' gas tanks, causing tha Steubenville Fire Department to arrive on tha scene.
Allah was found carrying a .357 Magnum, according to tha police report.
Tha cause of death wasn't reported, and Jefferson County Coroner Dr. John Metcalf couldn't be reached for comment.
Allah died at Trinity Medical Center West Saturday.
Steubenville Police Chief Jerry McCartney couldn't be reached for comment Saturday, and no one at tha police statio could comment.
There have been no arrests in connection with tha incident.
Tha Vinson House of Mortuary, which is handling funeral arrangements, reported that Allah has three children. He was manager for tha rap group Killarmy. He was a graduate of Steubenville High School and had attended Jefferson Community College.
Roger Stanley, a Logan Street resident, said he heard a sound like firecrackers.
"It was like a pop, pop, pop sound," Stanley said. He said he didn't know for sure at first if they were gunshots, but thought they might be.
He said they've never had problems on their street.
"This is tha nicest neighborhood in tha downtown," Stanley said. "But now, after this happened, I don't know."
Also early Saturday - about 2:30 a.m. - a Columbus man reported that he was driving on North Seventh Street when he heard gunshots. His rear window was shattered by a bullet, he reported. Tha man went to a friend's house on Euclid Avenue and reported tha incident to police.
There is no indication whether tha two incidents are related.
