"Just down the street. Right there." I said, pointing at it.
"That's my hotel, too."
"See, it's fate." I said, grinning. "Now, you have to come swimming with me."
"I guess I could use a swim."
"I'm glad to hear that. I'm going to see if the other guys are going to come. I'll meet you at the pool, ok?"
"Ok."
"Cool." I said and ran over to where the guys had been.
They wanted to stay and watch some other groups, so I went to the hotel by myself. After I changed, I went to the pool. When I got there, Alexis was already there.
"Hey, I'm glad your here." I said.
"I told you I'd come, didn't I?"
"Actually, you said you guessed you could use a swim."
She laughed and threw her towel at me. I grabbed her hands and pulled her up. "Let's go."
We swam for an hour and then Alexis wanted to get out because she was hungry.
"How about we go to the restaurant upstairs?" I suggested.
"The revolving one?"
"Is that the one on the 72nd floor?" I asked as we left the pool area.
"Yeah."
"Well, then yeah that one." I said. "Do you want to go?"
"Sure it sounds good to me."
"Ok, the elevator to go there is right here." I said, pointing to it as we walked past it. "Meet me there, okay?"
"Okay, see you soon."
"See ya." I said and got in the elevator to my room.
After I went to my room and changed, I met Alexis at the elevator. We had to wait a couple of minutes for it. When we got there, we had to walk up a flight of stairs to the restaurant.
"Wow, what a great view." Alexis said.
"Yeah, you can almost see the whole city. And, you can see a lot of Canada." I said.
"Hey, guys what's up?"
I turned around and seen J standing there.
"Oh, hey man. Go ahead, sit down." I said, pointing to an empty chair. "J, this is Alexis, Alexis this is J."
"Hi, Alexis it's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too."
"Where's everybody else at?" I asked.
"They're still down there. B*Witched is up now."
"I bet my friend's going crazy. She loves B*Witched."
"Do you live by here?" I asked.
"I live about an hour and a half away."
"So what happened with your boyfriend?" I asked. "If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't mind. He thought I cheated on him, so he dumped me. But, I didn't even cheat on him."
"What made him think you did?"
"He heard some rumors and he believed them."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."
"It's no big deal. Anyways, let's talk about something else. What are you guys going to be doing after you leave here?"
"We're going back home to relax for awhile." J replied.
"That sounds nice."
"It will be great." I said. "We really need it."
"How long has it been since your last vacation?"
"I don't know." I replied. "We haven't had a real vacation in a long time."
"Aw, you poor things." Alex said in mock sympathy.
I laughed and just then the waitress came up with our food. After we ate, Alexis and I went back to my room to watch TV.
"Do you guys get recognized a lot?"
"In England we get recognized a lot, but not really here, because we're not that big yet, but hopefully we will be soon."
"I'm sure you will be."
I stood up. "Let's go for a walk. It's so nice out."
"Ok, where do you want to go?"
"The pakr where the concert is. It's so nice out by the water."
"Ok, let's go."
We walked over to the park and from the water, we could hear Robbie Williams as he started.
"Are you a Robbie fan?" I asked.
"Oh, he's okay. He seems a little cocky though."
Just then a girl came up. "Oh my God, Abs I am a huge fan. Could I please have your autograph?"
"Sure." I said. "What's your name?"
"Jessica."
I signed her paper really quick and handed it back to her. "Here you go, Jess."
"Thank you so much."
"No problem. Bye."
"Bye." She said and ran off.
"Cute kid." I remarked and we started to walk again.
"There's Christa." Alexis said, pointing to a girl up ahead looking out at the water. "She's the girl I came with." She explained to me.
"Let's go catch up with her." I said.
"Ok, come on." We started to run over to where Christa was standing.
"Christa, hi." Alexis said when we caught up to her.
"Oh, hi Alexis."
"Christa, this is Abs, Abs this is my best friend Christa."
I shook Christa's hand and then put my arm around Alexis' waist. "It's nice to neet you, Christa." I said.
She smiled. "You too." She said. "I have to run now and meet someone. I need to ask you a few questions later tonight, Alexis. I'll just see you in the room."
"Ok, bye." Alexis said.
"Bye."
Christa ran off and Alexis and I started to walk away.
"My little sister is going to be so jealous when she finds out I was hanging out with you." Alexis said. "She has the biggest crush on you."
"Aw, that's so sweet." I said. "What's her name?"
"Emma. She's 14."
"I'll sign a CD or something and you can give it to her."
"That's so nice." Alexis said. "Wait a second."
"What?"
"I remember my sister was saying that you and I were the same age and we would be perfect together, but you had a girlfriend and she said you would probably end up getting married and that was about a week ago. What's up with that?"
"We, uh, had to go our serperate ways." I said, notlooking at her. "We fought a lot, but I tried to make it seem like we were happy, because I loved her so much."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." She said. "Your not trying to make me feel sorry for youm so I'll get in bed with you, are you?"
"Of course not!" I exclaimed. "The thought has crossed my mind though." I said and grinned.
"Why doesn't that suprise me?"
"Haha." I grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's keep walking."
We walked for about five more minutes and looked out at the river for a little bit and talked. Then we headed back towards the concert area.
"Let's go shopping." I said.
"I don't have a lot of money."
"That's ok. I do."
"And that's going to help me how?"
"Oh come on, you knew what I meant. I can buy you stuff."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I am."
"That sounds like fun, let's go."
"Great." I said and we headed to the people mover.
We got off downtown right by a big hotel.
The first store we seen was The Gap. "Do you want to stop here?" I asked.
"Sure."
We went inside and she bought a Gap shirt and I bought her a pair of Gap shorts.
"You didn't have to buy me anything."
"I know." I said. "I just wanted to."
She shrugged. "Ok, whatever you say."
We shopped for a few more hours and then we went back to my hotel room and watched some movies.
"What time is it?" Alexis asked after She's All That was over.
"1:30." I replied. "I can't believe it's already that late."
"I know. I better get going."
"No, you might as well just stay here."
"I guess so. I'm going to call Christa and let her know so she doesn't worry about me." Alexis said, reaching for the phone.
I reached out and grabbed her hand. "It's 1:30 in the morning. She's probably sleeping right now."
"Yeah, I guess your right."
"Of course I am."
"Looks like you got your way." Alexis said, "I'm in your bed tonight."
I laughed. "Yes, you are."
The next morning Alexis went to her room to change. I took a shower and after I got out, I called J.
"Hey." I said when he answered the phone."
"Hi. What's up with you and Alexis?"
"It was just a one night stand." I replied. "Nothing special."
"Does she know that's all it was? Does she know about Danielle?"
"Well, no exactly."
J chuckled softly. "I should have known. Did you sleep with her?"
"Of course."
"I should never have asked." J said and laughhed.
Just then there was a loud banging on the door. I got to go. Someone's at the door."
"Ok, bye."
"Bye." I said and hung up.
I went over to the door and opened it to see Alexis there.
"Hi, babe." I said. "Come on in."
"Don't call me babe!" She yelled, storming in.
"What's wrong?"
"You lied to me! Practically everything you said to me was a lie! You didn't break up with Danielle and you guys are getting along great. How could you do this to me?"
"I'm sorry." I said. "I really do care about you, but I knew of I told you I had a girlfriend, you wouldn't want to see me."
Alexis laughed bitterly. "Do the lies ever stop? I was just a one night stand to you. Don't pretend it was anything more." The she turned around and ran out.
I sat down on my bed. I felt empty inside and angry at myself. Maybe I did care about her more than I thought. Scott called and told me the others were meeting downstairs for breakfast so I left to join them.
When I got there, the others were there and Alexis and Christa were sitting two tables away.
"Did she find out?" J asked when I sat down.
"Yeah, that was her at the door when I was talking to you." I replied.
"How did she find out?"
"I have no idea."
"You look pretty upset." Scott remarked.
"Do you know?"
"Yeah, J told us all."
"I'm upset, I guess I cared about her more than I thought I did."
"Her friend keeps giving you dirty looks." J said.
"Is Alexis looking over here?"
"Nope."
"I guess it wasn't meant to be." I said.
"Of course it wasn't. You have Danielle. Just forget about her." Ritcie advised.
"Easier said than done."
After we ate, we sat around and talked. I just sat there, I was to depressed to say anything.
Christa stopped by before her and Alexis left and handed me a folded up piece of paper. I opened it up and seen it was a note from Alexis. Abs,
I noticed you looked depressed during breakfast. Maybe we should try again - as friends. Meet me at my room as soon as you can.
Alexis
"I got to un guys. I'll see you later." I said and ran over to the elevators. When I got to the room, Christa was just leaving.
"I'm giving you guys some privacy because Alexis asked me to, but you better not do anything else to hurt her, or you'll have to answer to me."
"I won't hurt her." I said and ran inside.
"I didn't even want to do this." Alexis said when she seen me.
"I'm glad you did."
"When I first found out what you did, I wanted to hurt you like you hurt me. Christa's cousin is friends with Danielle and and I was going to have Christa tell her cousin to tell Danielle what you did, but I decided not to." Alexis said.
"I'm happy you decided not to." I said. "Can we be friends? I mean, could you ever forgive me?"
"I guess so. I mean you are sweet and you did look pretty upset at breakfast."
We went down to my room so I could pack and we talked. Then, she walked with me to the lobby.
"I will miss you." I said. "Any guy will be lucky to have you as a girlfriend. Make sure the next guy you meet treats you right."
She smiled. "Someone not like you then."
"Hey, hey." I said. I brushed a lock of hair off her forehead and kissed her on the cheek. "Bye."
"Bye, call me."
"I will." I said and left with the others.
"You got her number?" Scott asked when we got on the bus.
"Yeah."
"Why the hell did she give it to you?"
"We're friends now."
"Are you seriously going to call her?"
"Yeah, she's a good friend. I'm going to go lay down back there." I said. I went to the back of the bus and laid down. I thought of how wonderful Alexis was to still want to be friends with me after what I did to her.
