Grand Theft Auto

This game made some wild press as it was banned from a particular country (the government didn't want a game to promote actual grand theft auto since it's a major problem). Since then people have been picking the game up to see what all the hype was about. And what you find is genuinely original game that is good, but far from perfect. You take one role of several different "employees" for the mob. In order to make it up the ranks you must complete the various missions they decide to assign you. This means you could be dropping off drugs, taking out double-crossers, or even blowing up a police HQ among other objectives. To make your rounds you jump into different cars (thus Grand Theft Auto) & travel across the vast city. But make sure not to get the cops on your butt, or it could be game over. What makes this even more fun is the fact that pedestrians will often curse you out & the subjects of some missions are extremely risque (escort service, anyone?). It also explains the mature rating & explicit content label on the package. Unfortunately having to run back & forth across the city can get overly repetitive. Often killing the pace & fun of the game. Not to mention that all 3 cities (three, that's it?) look nearly the same & even have the same structures. How about some different locales to romp through? Though I should mention there's an expansion pack that can possibly add some life into this title. But I can't comment on that since I haven't tried it. All in all, despite the repetiveness of it all the mature nature of the game is sure to please. I just hope the next GTA is a little more refined than this version.
