JOHNNY LIGHTNING
Topper Johnny Lightnings were produced from `69 - `71 to do battle against Hot Wheels. They
had some of the coolest designs and wildest track sets ever made. These are definitely my favorite of the diecast
cars.
Here are a couple of Pipe Dreams. These Custom Cars were only
produced for a short time in 1971 just before the fall of Topper. They are very hard to find with all the add-on
parts.
Above are a couple of Monster JL's from 1970. These were known
as Jet Power cars that you could pump full of air, they didn't work all that great. The one in the front is a hot
pink color, which is hard to find on Toppers, in fact many people don't know they even exist!
Above is an Al Unser Indy with original wing. These are really
hard to find with the wing still attached. Next is the T.N.T. hot rod, which is one of my favorite JL's. Then there
is the crazy VW Bug Bomb.
MIRROR FINISH CARS!
The mirror finish cars were only produced for a short
time in 1969. They are much brighter than the normal paint. My pictures don't show how shiny they are.
Peach Custom T-Bird Champange Pink Ferrari Red Custom El Camino
Champange Pink Custom Dragster Mirror Purple Turbine. on rt.
Below is a super rare ENAMEL blue Custom Turbine. The
enamel colored JLs are much rarer than even the Mirror Finish cars! These were given away as premiums from Topper
back in 1970. I also have a red enamel Mako Shark and a black Wasp. I haven't seen any others anywhere else. These
make the `73 Hot Wheels enamels look common!
Here are some more variations of the Turbine.
From left to right is the white interior, red interior,
black interior, and mirror finish. Cars with painted interiors are early released cars and later cars have unpainted
interior.
Yet More JLs
Above is a Custom El Camino in a Black Green color. JL had some really cool colors such as this
one. If you just glance at it the color appears to be black, but if you look close there is a green tint to it.
Cool!
Above is a couple of Custom Ferraris. One in green
the other in red.
A Whistler with PipeDream stickers, which looks pretty cool!
In my toy car room, I have an entire wall dedicated to Topper JLs.
Pictures of the Original 47!
These are pictures of cars from my personal collection.
Not For Sale. Each car is mint, but some of my pics don't show the true color very well.
