Greeting from the Basileus

Greetings in the name of the Supreme Basileus of the Universe and in the names of our beloved founders: Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Cooper, Frank Coleman and Ernest E. Just.

Chartered in 1983, Chi Beta Beta became the home of men of similar high ideals of fellowship. Our Fraternity’s membership has been and continues to be comprised of men from many occupations and professions; from Jesse Jackson to Shaquille O’Neal, men who have reached the heights of excellence in their chosen fields through perseverance.

Consistent with our Mandated Programs, members of the Chi Beta Beta Chapter volunteer countless hours in Bloomington/Normal area community services including Special Olympics, B.A.N.S.A.G.O., Talent Hunt, National Essay Contest and last but not least, OMEGA has lead the just cause in raising the social awareness of the injustices and inequities within our community.

In addition, we are committed to making generous contributions to United Negro College Fund and NAACP. For the last two decades, Chi Beta Beta Chapter has provided great leadership and direction to help the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity thrive and remain viable.

To my fellow Brothers, We are less than ten years shy of something that will have started a century ago, in Thirkield Hall. Three Howard University undergraduate students and their faculty advisor...How many times has the story been told?? What has remained true through it all is the Fraternity’s Motto that "Friendship is essential to the soul."

As we move into the future of our beloved Fraternity let us remember that it all started in this building with three friends. On this day and especially Monday, November 17 let us all honor the bond that has joined us together for 92 years. That bond is friendship. There are no others but us to pay this homage to our founders. We all know what they went through to maintain their bond; it would not represent us well to let this day pass without some recognition. Happy Founder's Day!

Sincerely
Bro. S. Atkinson, Basileus

Talent Hunt Program
by Bro. J. Gibson

The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Talent Hunt Idea was created in the Fraternity's Sixth District (North and South Carolina) in 1945, and the first District Talent Hunt Program was held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on April 19th, 1946. The need for such a program was born out of the unequal opportunity afforded to some American youths to develop and give full expression to their talents.
