Kansas City - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that Charles Greene of Oklahoma City has been chosen as the 2004 recipient of the NAIA's Lary Lady Officiating Award, the highest honor given to officials of NAIA sporting events.

Greene was chosen as both a basketball and a football official. He worked in the NAIA's National Football Championships in 1974 and 1975, and officiated at the NAIA's National Basketball Tournament from 1980-81 to 1984-85.

Greene officiated basketball in the Big 8 Conference for more than 20 years as well as officiating in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference and the Sooner Athletic Conference. He served as the Commissioner of Oklahoma City's All City Athletic Conference for 24 years and currently serves as a basketball official observer for the Big 12 Conference as well as the camp director and training supervisor for SAC officials and as a rules interpreter for the OSSAA.

In addition to his outstanding career as an official, Greene has developed, trained, supervised and mentored numerous outstanding officials, both in basketball and football, including many current Division I officials.

Greene will be honored at the NAIA's Men's Basketball National Tournament in Kansas City next March.
