Media |
The media, be it TV, newspaper or magazines can
shape your thoughts and ideas. Today's media has a liberal bias
which assumes and wants us to believe that only liberal views are
acceptable in our society. What we need is the truth. For unbiased
news, I watch Fox
News Channel. (This channel is available on cable TV and DBS/DTH
systems around the world).
My favorite primetime show is The
O'Reilly Factor - No Spin Zone on FNC. |
Politics |
Do we Christians have
anything to do with politics? I would say, yes, we have a lot to do
with politics, because the policies that are made and the bills that
are passed affect us in some way or the other. It affects the way we
live our lives, the things our kids are exposed to, our basic human
rights, religious rights and the like. We should never shy away from
our civic responsibilities. The Bible teaches us to pray for the
leaders of our lands. As responsible citizens we need to vote for
the people who represent our interests, moral values and ideologies.
For that, first of all we should be well informed. Get you
information from media that is unbiased. Again, if you are in the
U.S., I would suggest you watch The
Fox News Channel for a fair and balanced coverage of current
events. There are websites like www.cbn.com
and Chuck Colson's www.breakpoint.org.
Do not buy the lies of the liberal media who do not care for you or
me. Lets top whining and complaining about how bad the government
is, when we ourselves did not put the right people in the
government. So lets not be reactive but proactive. Be informed, Pray
and Participate. |

Religion |
I am unashamedly a Christian. I am tolerant of
other faiths, even though I am not a subscriber to them. Speaking of
Christianity today, there are hundreds of denominations on the face
of the earth and each claiming to be the true church and having the
right doctrines. Most of these denominations have an "holier
than thou" attitude. What is sad and ironical is that, the body
of Christ (a few claim that only they comprise the body of Christ)
is bitterly divided, when Christ and the apostles dwelled upon
unity. Some preachers enjoy railing at other churches from the
pulpit, fanning the flames of hate and prejudice. Christians, the
world is watching us. Though we may have doctrinal differences we
should be united in our approach to spread the gospel. And
to spread the gospel, the church ought to come out of its religious
shell and make use of every avenue including TV, radio and internet.
We need to go into the world to reach those who would never step
inside a church. Let's face the fact; no single church or
denomination can ever reach every country, every state, every city,
every village, every forest, every desert, every island in this
earth. God uses different people at different times to reach
different kinds of people in different parts of the world regardless
of their church affiliations. Some "religious" people are
against using "unconventional means" to spread the gospel.
There is nothing inherently wrong with television, radio or
internet. All these things are wonderful inventions and were
invented for good purposes. As with any invention, a few people
chose to abuse it. That's the reason we have all the junk on TV,
radio and internet. But why should that stop us from using those
means to further the gospel. Rather, I would suggest that we fill
the airwaves and internet with the message of Jesus Christ and
outnumber the porn sites and other trash in the airwaves. Let's not
succumb to the devil and his kingdom. They have exploited every
means available to them to enlarge their kingdom, while Christians
were having their own "Sunday social clubs" inside
the four walls of their church. Well I could go on, but I guess
you've got the message. |

Hot Button Issues |
Persecution of the church is rampant in
various parts of the world. We Christians should be aware of the
hell that our brethren are going through in countries like Sudan,
Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the like. Not only should we be aware of
that, but also support these brethren through our prayers, financial
and political support. The following websites provide more
information about this issue: |

Homosexuality |
We are living in a time when homosexuality
is all over the place. Sad to say, some political parties pander to
these groups to be politically correct and for their political
gains. There is a very real danger that we may end up in jail for
talking against homosexuality. People of God, its real. The
homosexuals and their supporters want to force their views and
agenda on the straight majority. Any preaching or opinion against homosexuality
is considered "hate" these days. Worse of all, these
people flaunt their sexuality in the public. Gay pride parades are
very common and is supported by political parties these days. Sex is
supposed to be kept in the privacy of your bedroom, whether you are
gay or straight. Not only do they want us to accept their
"lifestyle" but now they would like to teach the
elementary school kids about homosexuality. People its all over. Its
on the streets, its on the TV, movies, magazines everywhere. Imagine
having to explain to your child when two men are hugging and
kissing each other on the street. A few countries have already made
same sex unions legal. Sad to say, many mainline Christian
denominations appoint gay people as clergy and also conduct gay
marriages. What are we supposed to do as Christians? We are to hate
homosexuality and not the homosexual. We've got to pray for them and
reach out to them with the gospel of Jesus Christ. You may find
