BRIEF HISTORY OF EMIRATES PILATELIC

Philatelic
Association
(EPA) was established
according to Ministerial Decree No. 372 on June 24, 1996. Since then, the
Association has tried to continue the success achieved by Philately in
the UAE. It has an elected governing council for a two year period comprising
a President, Vice President, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Secretary, Chairman of
Special Committees, and four Committee members. The EPA now has
215 subscribing members, many of whom are at an advanced enough level to
participate in international shows.
In a short period of time, the Association has
been able to develop philately at local, Arab and international levels.
This has been achieved through its zealous participation in various activities
and exhibitions and through the effort put forth by its members.
The EPA
has been allocated a large room in the Riqa Post Office in Dubai by the
General Postal Authority for its activities, where the secretariat of the
EPA
is open after working hours for the convenience of members on Saturday,
Monday, and Wednesday from 7:30pm (03:30GMT) to 10:00pm (06:00GMT).
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
:-
The EPA
established to achieve the following aims and objectives:-

Encourage and develop the promotion of philately using all legal ways and
means of promotion.

Bring together Philatelists in the UAE with the objective to exchange ideas
and stamps.

Hold symposia and exhibitions on philately in co-operation with the authorized
departments.

Encourage Philatelic groups in Schools, Institutes, Universities and any
institutions in the country.

Publish magazines and publications on stamp collecting and promote them
within and outside the country in co-operation with the authorized departments
according to rules and regulations, after obtaining permission of the Ministry
of Culture and Information.

Co-operate with Arab and International Philatelic Associations and clubs
after obtaining permission of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs
and other competent departments in the country.

Provide a library for members to study and understand the culture.

Promote social and cultural activities and encourage other hobbies for
members.
