The noise of gunfire has long been silenced
From a battle never won.
Solders marching homeward bound.
No victory song was sung.

The years have passed
And
Times have changed.
We still don’t fully understand
The crushing blow we so cruelly dealt
When we offered not a hand.

Not a word of gratitude nor thanks
To all men so brave as you.
Is it too much to ask or think
We be forgiven
For hurts we can’t undo?

It’s been too long in coming.
The light of a brand new dawn.
STAND PROUD, BRAVE MEN!
