My name is Lloyd Woodard. I have been packing donkeys for four years. I live in the North Cascade mountains in Washington state so I can pack right out of my yard. I have packed in Washington and in Oregon. Some of my pictures are from pack trips in the Eagle Cap Wilderness in Oregon and some of the pictures are in the North Cascades in Washington.
I have used my donkeys for packing into the wilderness for bowhunting elk, for packing mineral blocks to the bighorn sheep in Northeastern Washington and for hiking trips. The Inland Empire Wildlife Council use to pack the mineral blocks to the bighorn sheep every year. The Northwest Llama Federation helped them pack the mineral blocks. The last year the Inland Empire Wildlife Councill did this, I helped pack the mineral blocks. This was my first experience being around llamas.

Some Do's and Don’ts \\\\\ Get your donkeys feet trimmed every three months \\\\\ Worm your donkey every time you get his feet trimmed \\\\\ Never feed your donkey high protein hay such as alfalfa \\\\\ Never feed your donkey grain unless you are working him hard \\\\\ Never picket your donkey where he can wrap the rope around anything \\\\\ Make sure your donkey always has clean water (heater in the winter) \\\\\ Build a lean-to shelter for your donkey so he can get out of the weather if he wants to \\\\\ Never try to force your donkey to do something he doesn't want to do. You have to outthink him! Donkeys are natural packers. You just have to refine them a little bit!
