So many boys were sent away,

And still haven't returned today.

It has been twenty-four years since the end of the war,

Why haven't they returned sometime before?

We fly the flag for those who are Missing in Action or Prisoners of War.

The government says they won't forget the POW/MIAs

So they allowed their names to be placed on "the Wall" for everyone to see,

Yet after all these years they still remain,

In a foriegn land!

Little boys playing war,

Hiding in the trees.

Bang, bang one says

I gotcha, your * .

A few more years go by,

They are still young boys,

And the U.S. has recruited them,

To play a grown man's war.

Now they have aged considerably,

Not by years, but in their mind.

Still hiding in the trees,

But this time it's from the V.C.

Explosions sound from all around,

One young, old boy falls to the ground.

Somewhere amongst the trees,

A voice rings loud and clear,

Crying out to all the de*d,

Why wasn't it me instead?

We offer up our countries children

For what, politics and money.

Then we abandon them in their time of need.

We spit on them and call them names.

We burn the flag, for which they fight.

We fight for peace with anger and ,

Peace protest end with violent fates.

We h*te the war in Vietnam,

So we turn our backs on those who offer up their lives for you and I.

Wars are a senseless loss of lives,

They are fought for greed and pride.

Wars will continue until we all die,

Because the people of this world cannot suppress the disire to control.

Will It Ever End?

The war continues to rage on,

For families whos loved one has gone,

And for the vets that have returned.

The candles continue to be burned,

For the prisoners and missing not home.

The POWs are still waiting for the chopper to come.

How can the war be complete,

If we continue to offer defeat.

The war will continue to rage on,

Until the last POW/MIA has come home.

Lets Bring Them Home!!!!!

(this poem was written by my mom, I thought it would be nice to share it with you all.)

To all the Veterans who survived the war I would like to say this:

You may have often asked yourself why you survived when others did not, and you probably couldn't come up with an answer that would satisfiy you soul. I have an answer for you. It may not help you anymore than the answers you came up with but I would like to tell you any way. I beleive each of you survived for a reason. I would not know the things that I know about the war had it not been for those who survived. The Veterans that I have been privilaged enough to know have taught me so much. They took the time to share their stories with me. They have given me the strength to face obsticales in my life. They have taught me that I can survive no matter what. They have given me the ability to be all that I can possibly be. And I thank them for that. If it were not for them I would be lost. I have learned much more about war than a history book could ever teach. Veterans are the best teachers when it is time to learn about Our history,. Let me ask you a question: If you would not have survived who would be here to tell your story? I am nineteen years old and I remember our POW/MIAs,KIAs, and all veterans for one reason and one reason only Because You told me your stories. Children are the future, someone has to teach them. Thank you and Welcome Home.
