Brittany Traits
This site is inspired by the Brittany, formerly known in the U.S. as a "Brittany Spaniel"; The "Spaniel"was dropped by American Kennel Club.
Now "OVER THE RAINBOW.." Pictured above is our wonderful American Brittany, Jade, acquired as a pup from breeder/friend Jackie Arnold at FarOut Fields Kennels/Independent Brittany Rescue,in Dunnellion, Florida. We lost our girl to cancer at age 13. Jade had a nice confirmation, was obedient and fun loving. Her temperament was outstanding. We will miss her more than words can ever, ever say. The Britt is an all-around dog with multiple talents - many have excelled in the hunting, confirmation, obedience and agility areas. They are a joy to watch in action. There aren't many sights prettier than a Brittany on point. Many Brittanys are Dual Champions in both Field and Show rings.
The Britt has more similarities to a pointer/retriever & does not flush birds like a spaniel. The later part of the name was dropped; Brittany is the name recognized by breeders and AKC.
Brittanys love their families and enjoy the companionship of other dogs, particularly other Britts. They are also good with children.Through exposure the Brittany should become even more popular.There are fewer numbers in the southern-most U.S. Most Britt breeders work hard to keep the true wonderful qualities of the breed pure. We appreciate their efforts!
