The Free Methodist Church located at 6500 E. Reno Avenue in Midwest City, Oklahoma celebrates it's 45th anniversary on November 7, 2002. Reverend Hugh Wayman was the first pasator with 12 charter members: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright, Larry and David; Mr. and Mrs. Ramona Munguia, Alma and Ruth; Mrs. Betty Wayman, Jeannette and David; and Mrs. Kenneth Tollefson. The first worship service was held on November 10th. During the first quarter, the attendance averaged 48 for Sunday School and 58 in morning worship. Approximately $4,000.00 was raised by the young church that first year. Official dedication of the Midwest City Free Methodist Church was April 27, 1958, officiated by Bishop Paul Taylor. Under the continued leadership of Reverend Wayman, a four-bedroom brick parsonage with double car garage was completed in 1959. Rev. Wayman supervised the addition of more classrooms to the church in 1961.

In 1963, Reverend Ronald Logan became pastor and he served until June, 1970. During his ministry, a second addition to the church was completed in 1964 providing for more classrooms and a larger fellowship hall area. It was apparent that a new sanctuary was needed and a pledge program was launched.

In June, 1970, Reverend Elza Boldman became pastor. It was during his time that construction on the new sanctuary, new kitchen, additional fellowship hall areas and offices were completed. The new facilities were dedicated on October 20, 1974. Bishop Paul N. Ellis officiated and addressed the rejoicing congregation. The new sanctuary has a seating capacity for 455. Part of the original sanctuary was remodeled to house a recreational area and dedicated on March 17, 1975. The remainder was transformed into a chapel completed in the spring of 1981.

Reverend M. Wayne Mote succeeded Rev. Boldman in 1977. He, in turn, was succeeded by the Reverend David U. Jones in June, 1979. Rev. Jones served until January, 1981. Reverend Billy Ray Huff was appointed by the conference to serve as pastor serving until Reverend Phillip D. Ward began serving May 1, 1981.

Reverend Harold Biship succeeded Rev. Ward in July, 1992. Rev. Bishop served until June, 1997 when Reverend Jeffrey P. Johnson began serving the Midwest City Free Methodist community of faith. Under Rev. Johnson, the bathrooms have been brought up to code and new bathroom facilities were added to accommodate the handicapped and showers were installed.
