NYCLTCEN'S PALLIATIVE CARE
TASK FORCE

On June 25, 1998, the New York City Long-Term Care Ethics Network [NYCLTCEN] sought to establish a Palliative Care Task Force consisting of professionals in the field of long-term care. The Task Force was an outgrowth of a plenary session from the NYCLTCEN's conference on Ethical Issues of Palliative Care and Pain Management in the Nursing Home, which was held at the Hebrew Home For The Aged in Riverdale and was sponsored by Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc. and The Johnson and Johnson Long-Term Care Group.

The purpose of the Task Force is to suggest a range of necessary elements in establishing a palliative-care service in the nursing home. The Task Force will work on identifying clinical pathways to promote the successful implementation of a palliative-care service in the nursing home.
