Fairy Halloween Costume to Crochet
You will need:
White worsted weight yarn, about 10 ounces.
Peach worsted weight yarn, about 6 ounces.
1 inch button of your choice (Holly picked gold)
needle for weaving ends, sewing
H Crochet Hook
Please note: I didn’t use worsted weight yarn for the peach petals, I used Patons Cotton Club yarn that I had around the house. This yarn texture is very similar to baby yarn with a strand of white cotton thread held together. But you can use ww and it will still work.
This was made for my daughter who is currently size 6x.
INSTRUCTIONS:
PETALS:
Make 6 with white:
Row 1. Ch 17, hdc in 3rd ch and in each chain across, chain 2, turn. (16)
Rows 2 – 45. Hdc in first stitch and in each stitch across, chain 2, turn. (16)
Row 46. Hdc in first stitch and in next 5 stitches, hdc decrease over next 2 stitches, hdc in next 7 stitches, chain 2, turn. (15)
Row 47. Hdc in first stitch and in next 5 stitches, hdc dec over next 2 stitches, hdc in next 6 stitches, chain 2, turn. (14)
Row 48. Hdc in first stitch and in next 4 stitches, hdc dec over next 2 stitches, hdc in next 6 stitches, chain 2, turn. (13)

Row 53. Hdc over remaining 2 stitches, pull thru, finish off, weave in end.
BODICE:
With white, place one white petal on the bottom, put one peach petal on top, work thru the remaining loops of the first rows of both layers. Join first peach loop to the 9th white stitch, leaving 8 empty loops unworked on the white layer, to the right of the joining stitch. This process will stagger the petals, so they will be layered.
Chain 1, sc in same stitch as joining, sc thru both layers of next 7 stitches. Place next white petal behind the peach one that you are working on, work thru next peach loop and into first loop of the new white petal, across next 7 loops (still both layers). Place next peach petal on top, alternate back and forth until all petals are attached. See pic below:
Attach final 8 loops of the last peach petal to the 8 unworked loops of the very first white petal. Join to the top of the first sc, do not break off, chain 1, hdc around, do not join rows, work continuously for 31 hdc rows.
There is no need to mark rows, you will want to finish with the very last stitch directly in line above the first hdc of the bodice (see pic). When you have finished 31 rows of hdc, sc in the next stitch, sl st in the next stitch and finish off, pull thru and weave in all ends.
This is the center of the back. You can sew your button 2 rows below the slip stitch, this is where the straps will button to.
STRAPS:
First Strap:
Row 1. With white, skip 29 stitches from the slip stitch, join with a sl stitch to the next stitch, ch 1, hdc in same stitch as joining and in next 4 stitches, ch 1, turn
Rows 2 – 39. Hdc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn.
Row 40. Hdc in first stitch, ch 1, sk 2 stitches, hdc in last 2, ch 1, turn.
Row 41. Hdc in first stitch, sk ch stitch, hdc in last 2, ch 1, turn.
Row 42. Sc dec over first 2 stitches, sc in last stitch, pull thru , finish off.
Second Strap:
Across front, skip 23 stitches from first strap, join with a sl stitch to the next stitch, ch 1, hdc in same stitch as joining and in next 4 stitches, ch 1, turn
Rows 2 – 39. Hdc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn.
Row 40. Hdc in first stitch, ch 1, sk 2 stitches, hdc in last 2, ch 1, turn.
Row 41. Hdc in first stitch, sk ch stitch, hdc in last 2, ch 1, turn.
Row 42. Sc dec over first 2 stitches, sc in last stitch, pull thru , finish off.
FLOWER:
With peach, ch 6, join to first ch to form a ring.
(Chain 1, hdc, dc, hdc, sl st) in ring 5 times. Pull thru, finish off, leave length for sewing in exact center of front, between straps, in second row from top.
