1. Download Mapedit
2. Install Mapedit
3. Before you run mapedit you'll need to create an html file with <img src=img.gif>
in the body, where "img.gif" is the graphic you're using to create an imagemap.
note: to save time and confusion, ensure that the html file and the image to be mapped
are in the same directory on your PC
4. Run Mapedit, then, from the file menu choose "Open/Create..." for
example:
5. Enter the name of the HTML and the image files in the appropriate boxes
6. Select the appropriate shape from the "Tools" menu
7. Place the mouse pointer at the position where you would like a hyperlinked area to
begin and click the left mouse button. Move the mouse until the lines surround the desired
area and click the mouse button again
note: for polygons, click the right mouse button to terminate the area selection
8. A dialogue box will be displayed. Enter the url you want to link that area to, repeat
these steps until you have mapped the whole image.
9. Run a test. Select Test+Edit from the tools menu, when you click on the areas you've
selected they should highlight to confirm your selection
10. Choose save from the File menu. Save as an HTML document.
Your HTML document will have all the map code included. run it in your browser as a
further test.
