ARTIST
PROFILE
Katie Leigh has been playing the piano, singing in choirs
and performing at various community events since age 5.
As a young teen, Katie would jump at every
opportunity to sing in school productions, coffee houses and was a familiar
face seen at musical showcases put on by her local youth centre in Kanata.
Later, she would fall in love with
learning the guitar - uncovering within her, a natural and innate ability
for songwriting. Katie devoted the next year to practicing and writing in
her room, playing only to family and friends.
Early in the spring of 2004, Katie ventured with
her guitar onto open mike stages and began booking herself a few gigs in
Ottawa. Her first show was an opener for The Adopted (unplugged) at The Agora Cafe.
The band's then newly formed label, One Man Industry, was so intrigued by
Katie's set and sound that they subsequently offered her several more dates
supporting the trio at larger club venues.
As her working relationship with the label
progressed, Katie began pre-production on developing a series
of demos with and for OMI through the fall/winter of 2004.
During that time she continued maintaining a busy performance schedule;
which included guest appearances on The Charles Anthony Radio
Show (CKCU 93.1 FM) & also on CHUM Media Television's highly rated "Breakfast @ The New RO".
With a new release and guitar endorsement in tow; 2005 has so far
proven to be a memorable year with many
milestones for Katie Leigh. Increasingly, Katie's
offerings and persona have been striking chords resonating with audiences
all over.
Her debut video and single, "You Say" is certain to
generate a huge buzz and
help firmly establish this 20 year-old starlet as a bonafide artist to
watch for in Canada's music scene.
Listen and be enthralled.
