Cordy and Morentith

You walk into this weyr.You can not find anyone,so you look outside.There is a blue dragon who you recognize as Geruth and a figure in blue wherhide is perched atop him.You think it is K'tan,but he is waiting outside.You settle down to wait.A few minutes later,you are tapped on the shoulder.A girl of about 19 Turns is standing behind you."Hello,traveller!"she says cheerfully.You recognize her as the one atop the dragon because her lanky figure is clad in blue wherhide pants,a white candidate's tunic,and blue boots.She takes off her helmet and you see she has long red hair with golden highlights.She peers at you with grey-green eyes that you find almost intimidating."Who are you?"you ask her."I'm Cordata,a journeywoman harper,and rider of green Morentith,from Jerdan Weyr.Morentith,she's probably one of the prettiest greens in the world!Or maybe I'm just a little prejudiced.I sure am glad I Impressed her this time.If I hadn't,I would've had to go back to Harper Hall!"she ends on a plaintive note.On that note,two firelizards,a blue and a brown,fly in to land on her shoulders.

"Repa,Safa,it's all right,I was just kidding,"she says,trying to calm the irate little creatures down."This time?"you ask."Umm,yeah.I was a candidate for Impression there,but none of the dragons found me suitable.Luckily,the Weyrleaders said that I could stay on as a candidate for the next clutch.I'm really glad!I think my firelizards scared off all the dragons.But,K'trina,well,Kat,didn't Impress a dragon there when she was a candidate.Then she got to be a candidate at Karath Weyr and now she's got a beautiful brown hatchling,Ayth,"Cordata says."How'd you Impress them?"you ask."It's a long story,actually,two long stories.I wrote it in my journal,but right now my journal's missing,"she says.The firelizards fly off to little tunnels and you can't see them any more.You notice three eggs in seperate indentions in the wall."What are those?"you ask."The two on the sides are supposedly dud eggs from the most recent flutterpurr clutch and the one in the middle is a firelizard dud.I'm not sure if they're really duds,though,"she says."They let me keep them because my sister Carmin,at Kachina Hold,likes to study the anatomy of creatures and she doesn't want to test on live animals,"she adds."I thought you were a master.What happened?"you ask her,for last time you visited,she was a master."K'tan went to Harper Hall to pick up the Masterharper for the Hatching.He caught me and told me that I was supposed to still be journeywoman.He gave the wrong person the wrong badge.It was an honest mistake!"she says.Her firelizards give an indignant chirp at her actions."Yeah,yeah,I know,you wish I was still at Harper Hall.Just cause it's warmer there doesn't mean that's where I want to be!"she says."Wasn't there another candidate at Jerdan from Harper Hall?"you ask her.Cordata bites her lip,deep in though."Oh!S'tac!Yes,he Impressed blue Grensith.I'm going to ask him to draw Mori for me.Mori already has a nickname for me.She calls me Cordy!"she says,grinning indulgently at her green.A girl of about 11 Turns and another about 4,both with red hair,enter the weyr."Cordata,Tobi wants you,"the older says."That's my sister Arlyn and my other sister Tobiana,Tobi for short,"Cordata explains.Arlyn frowms and sits down."My friends Tyroa,Kayl--whoops,I mean K'lar,T'son,and K'tan Impressed from Jerdan Weyr as well.As you know,K'tan Impressed a blue,and K'lar Impressed a brown,T'son a blue,and Tyroa a green.Tyroa also Impressed a brown and a green firelizard from there.I hope I'm lucky enough to Impress,"Cordata says."What color do you want to Impress?"you ask."Like I just said,any color would be great!"she says.You nod.She glances at the neighboring wall which leads into another weyr."Well,I'd best be going now,"you tell her.She nods and the three wave a farewell.
