All recipes are measured in weight Basic Test Batch ~~ 6.4 ounces coconut oil ~~~ 6.4 ounces shortening ~~~ 19.2ounces olive oil~~12 ounces distilled water ~~~ 4.4ounces lye Mix lye into water. Set aside to cool. It shouldn't take to long since it is a small amount. Weigh out solids and melt. Remove from heat when just melted. Weigh liquid oil and add to the pot. At 115 degree slowly start pouring lye/water into oils. Stir stir stir till trace. At this point you can scent or superfat. After blending in your scent or superfatting oil pour into a mold. Wrap in a blanket. Set somewhere undisturbed for 24 hours. Unwrap when cooled. Stick it in the freezer for a few hours then unmold. Cut into bars and let cure 4 weeks Lavender/Oatmeal~~16 ounces coconut oil ~~~ 12.8 ounces palm oil 3.2 ounces castor oil ~~~ 32 ounces olive oil ~~~ 24 ounces distilled water ~~~ 9 ounces lye ~~~ 1/4 cup ground lavender flowers ~~~ 1/2 cup coursely ground oatmeal ~~~ 1.2 ounce olive oil for superfatting ~~ 3.6 ounces lavender essential oil Follow basic instructions however mix oils and lye/water at 100 degree. The olive oil and eo can be mixed together and added now Combine the oatmeal and lavender flowers and add. Mix well pour into mold,wrap and let sit for 24 hours. Castille~~You can add 20% coconut oil for lather to this but recalculate the lye. 64 ounces olive oil ~~~ 8.15 lye ~~~ 24 ounces distilled water. This will be a mild soap so you may not need to superfat. Scent of your choice according to chart. Warm the olive oil to 100 drgree. When the lye/water is the same temp begin to combine. Because of the high olive oil content this may take longer to get to trace. Letting the mix sit for 10 minutes and then stirring can help. Keep doing this until you have trace(stir let sit, stir let sit)Wrap in the blanket and insulate for 24 hours or more. Check after 24 hours Rewrap if necessary and let sit longer checking periodically. When solid pop in the freezer for a few hours then unmold. Mix lye and water and set aside to cool. Melt solids in pot. Weigh lquid oils and add to the pot. Mix lye/water and oils at 98-100 degree. At trace add peach fo. At thick trace add warmed milk. Mix well and pour into mold. Insulate and leave 24 hours. Curing ~~ cp (cold process) soap must sit in an airy place to cure. This allows the excess water to evaporate making the bars hard and mild. I have included the tallow recipe for those who use it. I have made soap with animal fat as many people do and it produces a wonderful product however most people I supply prefer all veggie so I do not use animal fat Recipe Links
