It says it all above, really...but I'll try to string it together here. I'm a qualified teacher with over 30 years' experience of teaching all secondary school levels. I'm officially qualified to teach Chemistry, Mathematics and Science. I have, however, also successfully tutored Physics, Biology and Computing up to Standard Grade level (usually because the student couldn't get someone who was qualified, or because it was more convenient if I covered more than one subject).

In Chemistry and Maths, I've effectively covered up to Second Year University, at which level my knowledge may become rather hazy in some areas. My advantage there is my teaching experience - University lecturers and tutors are not exacly reknowned for their teaching ability. Luckily, I don't have to learn the material; my job is to get the student to understand it, then the learning is up to him/her.

I don't hold anyone to long-term commitments. I'll continue as long as it helps. The decision as to whether progress is being made I normally leave up to the student.

Normally, I travel to the student's home. Most people find this more convenient and secure. From a personal point of view, I prefer someone else, other than the student, to be present in the building, if not in the actual room, when the student is of school age.

I welcome adult students, no matter what their entry level or target.

What areas do I cover? As long as it's within reasonable driving distance from Clydebank. The furthest I think I've travelled are South Lanarkshire, East Kilbride, Shandon and Balfron Station.
