Just a few simple rules and guidelines to follow...

1. Fishing starts on the 1st January 2007 and finishes on 31st December 2007.
2. Exclusions - fish caught in garden ponds, fish tanks or rock pools do not qualify.
2a. Fish caught outside UK waters count as long as those fish are caught in the presence of another entrant.
2b. Fish caught outside UK waters count, without the presence of another entrant, as long as they are species of fish that are catchable in UK waters.
3. Species limitations that do not count are... in freshwater - Sticklebacks. In the sea - gobies and blennys.
4. All other fish count... Freshwater - from lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, PAAS waters, lochs, etc. All Saltwater & Gamefish too.
5. Boats and shore fishing are both allowed.
6. Proof of capture. Without mentioning any names, we all know about the fellow who only caught big tench when he was fishing on his own so proof of capture is a must. Fish must either be witnessed by a fellow competitor or ideally a picture taken of fish and angler, or identifying item of tackle, which can then be uploaded to the web site.

So... forget those dreams of Blue-Fin Tuna and Big Sharks, sort out your tackle, dig out that camera, get down Adlington canal and start catching those gudgeon.

Proposal is that we use a certain plaque, of ill-repute, as a trophy to be presented at year end to

"The Ultimate Fisherman - 2007."
