INT. WAY STATION - NIGHT
The Kid, Lou, Ike and Hickok are there. Rachel walks in.
Two riders, right now.
Hickok starts to climb out of his bunk...
All right. Ike...
...But Rachel has other ideas:
Kid and Lou can take it.
The Kid’s immediately on his feet... so fast, that everyone gives him a look. Especially Lou. Kid looks away, embarassed. Hickok starts to protest but Rachel blows right past him. To Kid and Lou:
There’s a government package at the Redford Station. You’ll have to spend the night there.
Lou gives Kid another look -- dawning understanding -- and they head for the door. As Kid exists Rachel slips a brown paper-wrapped package under Lou’s arm with a smile. Whispers:
Here. This might come in handy.
LOU
What is it?
RACHEL
(mischeviously)
A surprise.
Lou shrugs and takes it as she heads out the door. Once she’s gone Hickok raises his eyebrows to Rachel.
Me and Ike were up next.
RACHEL
Kid asked for this ride personally.
HICKOK
Was takin’ Lou his idea or yours?
RACHEL
(after a beat)
His.
Hickok smiles.
I knew he’d figure it out.
