across the road ahead of them. Low enough to jump... if they’ve got the nerve. Kid cautiously slows Katy... but with a challenging smile Lou spurs her horse forward. Gallops right up to the log -- all systems go -- then

LOU’S HORSE BUCKS tossing Lou to the ground in a heap. The Kid races down toward her, jumps off his horse, and rushes to her side, panicked. Lou lays motionless, face down on the ground.

TIGHT ON THE KID AND LOU

As the Kid turns her over onto her back. Her eyes are closed... then, slowly, they open... ...and Lou reaches up and gently puts her arms around him. He struggles just a little...

...then stops. Checks over his shoulder to make sure no one’s coming -- absurd but cute -- then kisses her. At last.
