The Lady in Blue

In the winter of 1985, a team of demolition workers had just began to strip out the interior of the old hospital. When one of the gang noticed in the corner of his eye, something flash past at the top of the stairs, he looked up, but nothing was to be seen.

Later, the foreman, saw a woman enter a room. He went straight to the room, but found that it was empty, the windows in the room were barred and locked, there was no other way out, yet the woman had not passed the foreman. He decided not to inform his co-workers, the job had to be completed within a set time, and he believed that informing the workers would cause problems, yet he still felt shaken.

During the evening, two weeks later, a security guard on patrol, had seen children playing on the south of the site, so he made his way around, he managed to chase the kids away, when a sudden chill froze him to the spot, there in front of him, no more than 6 feet away, a woman dressed in an old blue flowing gown, passed right in front of him, he was totally terrified, when the woman walked straight through a large skip that was full of scrap metal, 'she just went through it' he claimed.

It was later discovered that a lady in blue had been seen, in and around the old hospital on many occasions. On one occasion, a nurse attending to a patient, was surprised, when a woman dressed in an old fashioned blue dress, walked down the centre of the ward and entered the store room at the end of the ward.

Research shows that the room that the foreman and the nurse had seen the woman enter, was once a kitchen, when the building used to be a workhouse.

Since the buildings demolition, a woman in blue as been seen in and around the new office block, that now stands on the site.
