Chapter 154

Carter slowly opened her eyes and squinted at the bright light that was flooding her bedroom. She made a face and scratched her forehead before throwing her blanket at the wall and crawling out of bed. She glared at her sister's bed and threw her pillow at the crumpled blankets that held a body. "Wake up..." She whispered and then realized she had barely any volume to her voice. "WAKE UP!" She shouted, finally, and laughed when Melissa jumped and rolled off her bed and onto the floor.

Melissa grumbled and glared up at her sister. Her look went from angry to startled to a face that looked like she was trying not to laugh. "Oh my god."

"What?" Carter asked, rubbing her forehead with her eyes closed.

"Nothing. Hey, I think you were sleepwalking last night. I heard you walking around and... yeah."

"That's nothing new."

"Yeah well... yeah." Melissa laughed. "Ok then, back to bed for me. Don't wake me up again."

Carter sighed. "Ok then, I have to go find Taylor. I'm too bored to sleep." She yawned again and left the room, heading to the balcony. She crossed the banister and pushed Taylor's bedroom door open. She looked around her, confused, when she noticed Zac sleeping in his bed. "Uhm... You're not Taylor."

Zac mumbled and rolled over.

"HEY!" She jumped onto the edge of the bed to wake him up. When he rolled over and stared at her, she smiled. "You're not Taylor."

"No... I'm not." He tilted his head to the side and continued to stare.

"Ok, why is everybody looking at me like I have two heads?"

"Were you sleepwalking last night?"

"Apparently. Why?"

"No reason. So Taylor is in my room. We switched for the night because he's convinced that my bed is comfier."

"It is." She smiled. "Ok I'll go wake him up too."

"You do that." He laughed lightly, rolled over, and went back to sleep.

Carter shook her head and walked down the hallway to Zac's bedroom. Taylor was asleep on his back, breathing lightly. She smiled and stared at him for a minute before sitting on the bed next to him and gently kissing his forehead.

He opened his eyes and smiled. "Well, hello..." He trailed off and tilted his head to the side, the same way Zac had done.

"Ok, somebody needs to freakin TELL ME why everybody is LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT!" She almost shouted and Taylor laughed.

"Honey, go over to the mirror and take a look at yourself."

Carter looked at the mirror from the bed and looked for a second like she was afraid. "Ok." She stood up slowly and found her way through the clutter on Zac's bedroom floor and stood herself in front of the mirror. Her mouth dropped. "Holy hair, Batman! What did I DO?!"

Taylor laughed at the front half of her hair, which was a lovely shade of neon purple. She looked down at her hands, which until now had gone completely unnoticed. They were also bright purple. "Sleepwalking?"

"Apparently... Damn."

"What the hell did you dye it with?"

She thought for a moment before letting her jaw practically hit the floor again. "Bingo dabber!"

"Huh?"

"I have an old bingo dabber that is this exact color. Wow. I'm really creative in my sleep."

"Does it wash out?"

"I don't know. I've never dyed my hair with bingo dabber before. It looks kinda hot though, don't you think?"

"Hot as always." He smiled. "Ok come back over here now." He laid back down and patted the bed next to him.

Carter crawled into the bed next to him and wrapped her arms around him, laying her head on his chest. She looked up at him. "Heylo." She grinned and laid her head back down.

"Good morning."

Carter nodded and yawned again. "Mind if I stay here with you for a little while? I don't think I can sleep anymore but there's really no other place I want to be."

"I don't mind at all." He smiled and kissed the top of her head. "Have I told you lately that I love you?"

Carter chuckled. "That's a song."

"You know what I meant."

"Yeah. And I love you too." She smiled. "And by the way, great job on getting Zac and Katie together."

"Are they actually together now?"

Carter shrugged lightly and spoke while yawning. "I think so. They were smooching yesterday. They're very cute."

"Ok. Well that's good. I'm glad." He laid in silence with his arms around Carter for a minute before finally speaking. "Hey! Do you wanna go out for lunch or something today? Or dinner... depending on whatever time we drag out asses out of this bed." He looked at his watch. "Which by the way looks like it could be a long time from now."

He waited for an answer, but when Carter remained completely silent he looked down to see her eyes closed. She looked like she had been sleeping for hours. He pushed her purple hair away from her eyes and pulled her hand up to his mouth to kiss it lightly. Then, he held onto her hand and closed his own eyes, completely comfortable where he was.
