He couldn't see her clearly at first. His vision was blurry and his head was pounding. But there she was, standing in her bedroom, hanging something on her wall. She wore a black sweater and a long black skirt. Her hair was hanging in her face, a sign that she'd been cleaning her room for some time. Finally, she turned and looked at him.
"I thought something might be wrong. I was trying to get your attention through the walkie talkie but... you weren't answering."
Carter shrugged.
"You're still mad at me aren't you?" After no response, He sat down on her bed and started to talk. He poured out his heart, everything that had been in his mind for the past few months. "I miss you, Carter. I miss being able to hold you in my arms and know that you're looking up at me, thinking the same thing I am. I miss having you hug me whenever you walk by. But most of all, I miss the feeling that's always been in my heart. The feeling that tells me you love me, even when you don't say it. To hell with Nique, and Taylor... Nobody is meant to be together more than you andme. Nobody. I've been feeling so crappy lately. Ever since we broke up. Everything is coming back, the pain in my legs and arms, the headaches, the brain fog. It just seems like without you, I have nothing to look forward to and I let everything go to hell. Some people need a kitten for a companion, some people need to do something huge with their lives, I just need you. Can you understand that?"
Carter turned around with tears in her eyes. All she needed to do, all that needed to be done was to hug him. She sat down next to him, wrapped her arms around his shoulders, and hugged. "I love you too, Zac. I'm sorry I've been so bitchy to you. I just miss you and I'm completely jealous. I'm so sorry."
He leaned forward and gave her the lightest, sweetest kiss on the lips he had ever given her. All was ok now. Everything was the way it was meant to be.
Taylor
"Hi Taylor." She came into his bedroom like she had a million times before in secrecy. This time, instead of talking, she walked right over to him and kissed him.
He stepped back in surprise. "That was different. What about you and Zac?"
"What about us? We're friends. We've tried to make it more than that. It's just not right. It's you I'm interested in. It's you I want."
He really wasn't about to argue. All he could see was her dark, shiny hair, her petite body, dressed all in black. Just like in movies, he took her in his arms and threw her onto his bed.
She laughed. "What about Carter?"
"What about her? We're just friends, remember?" Taylor grinned. He couldn't be happier. Finally he had the chance to show how he felt about Nique. No more hiding it behind a wall of friendship and secrecy. No more pretending he didn't even know her. Finally, she was all his.
Nique
She couldn't stop them, their arms were too strong. Pounding into Zac harder and harder each time, it would have been quicker for her brothers to just shoot him in the head. She'd been afraid of her brothers in the past, but now she was terrified.
They caught them making out on the couch. One of Zac's hands was on her waist, which to her brothers meant, sex was coming. They ripped him off of her and threw him against the huge glass french doors that led to the dining room. They shattered, and he fell through. Unharmed as of yet, they picked him up and took turns punching him.
"STOP IT! STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Jade came running into the room, pulling them off of Zac. She put her arms around him and took him away. Giving them all a dirty look, all of them, including Nique. "Come on Zac, I'll take care of you."
She stood there, crying, she had lost everything because of two things. Her cousin, and her brothers. Family members she was convinced were out to get her.
Isaac
He looked over to his side, at Melissa. They'd done it again. Sure it was, completely illegal in 49 states. But... they could always move.
Carter woke, not remembering what she had dreamed about. She knew it was bad though. All she could remember was evil laughter. She couldn't sleep any longer.
"To hell with Nique, and Taylor... Nobody is meant to be together more than you andme. Nobody. I've been feeling so crappy lately. Ever since we broke up. Everything is coming back, the pain in my legs and arms, the headaches, the brain fog. It just seems like without you, I have nothing to look forward to and I let everything go to hell."
Carter stared at her walkie talkie. All she heard after Zac's little speech was "Mmmmph... mmmm." She was almost afraid to ask what he was dreaming about. But she knew. She also knew she'd never be able to fall asleep again unless she found out exactly what happened in his dream. She threw the covers off of her and practically ran next door. She found Zac, hugging his pillow, still talking in his sleep.
