Chapter 48

Zac stared up at Carter, his face red from a deep sleep, his chest glistening from sweat.

"What did you say?"

"Huh?" Zac rubbed his eyes as Carter sat next to him.

"You said something in your sleep. What did you say?"

"I dunno. What did I say?"

Carter shook her head. "What were you dreaming about?"

"Frogs. Why?"

Carter sighed. "No reason. I must have been dreaming too. Who knows." She shrugged. "You can go back to sleep now. Sorry I woke you up."

"No prob."

Carter sighed again and walked over to Taylor's bedroom. He was there, sleeping, wrapped tightly in his blanket. "Tay?" She whispered, shaking him lightly. "Tay?"

"Huh?" He woke suddenly, staring at Carter like he had just been caught doing something very very wrong.

"Are you naked?"

"No. I have boxers on."

"Good." Carter grabbed the blankets from Taylor and crawled underneathe with him. She yawned and put her head on his chest.

"Carter?"

"Yeah?"

"Why are you laying on me?"

Carter sat up. "Well, I actually was wondering if you remembered the time when we were 6."

"Hmm... I dunno, that was a pretty long year." He laughed. "Be more specific."

"The time I beat you up with a baseball bat cause you called me girlie?"

"Oooh. Yeah I remember that."

"Sorry."

Taylor laughed. "Don't worry about it. My leg is almost completely back to normal."

Carter blushed. "And remember the time when we were 4 and you grabbed my hair and slammed it in the door when I was laying on the floor?"

Taylor laughed. "That was funny. You couldn't reach the doornob cause you were laying on the floor. And you were stuck there for a long time."

Carter glared at him.

"Yeah well. Sorry about that."

"Yeah I know. You apologized a week later cause your mom made you. But what I didn't tell you was... I kinda... peed on your baseball cards."

Taylor's mouth dropped open. "I thought that was Zac! He got grounded for a month for that."

"Yeah well... he took the rap for it. But yeah. It was me."

"How could he take the rap for it? He was 2."

"Yeah well... We were like this from birth you know." Carter crossed her two fingers symbolically.

"And you and I were like... THIS." Taylor shoved Carter off of the bed and laughed.

Carter jumped back up onto the bed, laughing, and landed on top of him, with her knee in his crotch. Taylor let out a silent "yelp" and bit his bottom lip.

"Oops."

"Dammit woman. Watch what you did with that knee. Damn." He whispered, barely with a voice.

"Sorry." Carter rolled her eyes. "Are you crying?! Geez it can't hurt that much."

"Oh man, It's a pain no woman can ever know about."

"Ha!"

"It is!"

"HA! I'd like to see you live one second with cramps. Then we'll see how much you cry."

"Can't you just admit that maybe man pain is almost as bad as woman pain?"

"No because then we wouldn't be able to get away with anything for that one week."

"See now you're screwed."

"Why?"

Taylor grinned. "You told me your secret."

"Ok you wanna know what cramps feel like?"

"Yeah."

Carter shook her head. "I shouldn't tell you. You won't believe me."

"No really. I wanna know. That way when I get married one day, I'll know how to sympathize with my wife."

Carter laughed. "You'll never get married."

"Come on. Just tell me."

"Alright." Carter sat up on her knees. "Grab your woobie."

"My what?"

"Your wanger."

"Huh?"

"Grab your shlong, Tay."

"Oh. Ok." Taylor stared at her.

"I didn't mean that hypothetically."

"You want me to really grab myself with you here?"

"You want to experience this don't you?"

"Yeah." Taylor sighed and reached under the covers. "Ok now what."

Carter laughed. "Ok this is too good. Ok now, wrap it around your cheese nads."

"I don't... think that's possible."

"Just do it."

Taylor scooted around the bed for a while, watching Carter laugh at him. "Ok. Now what?"

"Ok now shove it all up into your body as fast, and as hard as you can."

Taylor stared at her. "Ok I know that's not possible."

"There you have it."

"Ok then, when do labor pains feel like?"

Carter laughed. "I'm not sure. But I could probably guess."

"Ok, what."

"Alright you know what you just did?"

"Yeah?"

"Well instead of doing that. Grab your.... hmm hmms... pull them apart, and tie one around each leg."

Taylor's face turned bright red. "Whoa...."

"Yeah."

"Damn. I've never been more happy to be a man."

Carter laughed. "Trust me, you're no man."

"Haha." Taylor laughed sarcastically. "So why'd you come in here again?"

Carter shrugged. "I forget. I'll go to bed now though."

"Night."

Carter waved and went back to her room. She found Melissa sitting on her bed. She smiled up at her. "You really like him don't you?"

"Who?"

"Taylor."

"That's none of your business. Don't you have like..a girlie slumber party or something happening right now?"

"No. I just kind of wanted to talk to you."

Carter looked surprised, but she laid down on her bed and covered up. She decided to listen.

"Sometimes you don't realize what you have."

"What I have? I don't have much."

Melissa laughed. "You have a best friend that absolutely adores you. He'd do anything for you. All you'd have to do is ask. You have a guy friend that you can talk about sex with whenever you want to. By the way, the vent in the other room leads almost directly to Taylor's bedroom."

Carter glared at her.

"And you have Isaac."

"I don't have Isaac. Isaac has his bedroom where he stays in all the time and never comes out."

"And who do you think he's thinking about while he's in there?"

Carter shrugged.

"Like I said, you don't know what you have."

"Oh how would you know, Meli. You're every teenage boy's dream."

"Yeah. Most teenage boys. But the Hanson's are different. They don't go for blonde's with bodies and no brains. They look for depth, and they all found that in you, one way or another. Zac found a soul mate. Taylor found a confidant, and Isaac found a role model."

"He's older than me though."

Melissa sighed. "You really don't get it. You have everything you'll ever need in this world living right next door to you and you don't even know it." She stood up and shook her head. "You might want to think about what you really WANT in this life."

Carter sighed and closed her eyes. She had never realized how insecure her sister was. Maybe that's all she got from the conversation. For some strange reason, she actually cared about her sister, after all they'd done to eachother. She smiled, realizing how much Melissa liked Isaac. Then she decided to go wake up her third Hanson brother for the day.
