Chapter 53

Ok I know I'm going to laughed at for a very long time because of this, but I decided to write about it because it is too funny. Keep in mind, the story has been altered slightly. The bloody nose originally happened when I tried to pry open the garage door with a stick, since my house now has a garage and the old one didn't. So here goes. Laugh all you want. And keep in mind that there is a foot and a half of snow on the ground during this chapter.

Carter hopped out of the car and reached back inside to get her bag of Mcdonald's from her sister. Her dad had to go back to work and Melissa wanted a ride to Abby's house. Carter wrapped her lightweight spring jacket around her body and walked up the stairs to the front door. She reached into her pocket and stopped dead in her tracks, realizing she didn't have her house key with her. She turned around and waved frantically to her father, who in turn waved back and drove away.

"Shit." Carter exclaimed, rather loudly to nobody. "Oh well. Back door should be unlocked, we never lock it." She zipped up her spring jacket and cursed herself for dressing so summery. When she reached the back door, she screamed outloud when she realized it to was locked. "GODDAMMIT! It's FUCKING COLD!" She yelled as the wind picked up, whipping her hair around her neck.

She opened the gate that divided the two back yards and started pounding on Zac's back door. No answer. "OH COME ON! YOU'RE ALWAYS HOME!" She tried the door, also locked. She yelled as she pounded louder and louder.

Carter grunted and grabbed her Crispy Chicken sandwich out of her Mcdonald's bag and set the bag down on the snow. She took a huge bite and looked around, surveying the area. "Of course. Balcony." She'd seen Taylor climb on top of the fence, and then onto the balcony a million times to get into the house.

Her only problem was, she had forgotten she was wearing platforms. When she placed her foot ontop of the fence, it slipped, causing her to lose her balance and fall. On the way down to the icy ground, she hit her face on the top of the fence. "OUCH! DAMN YOU FENCE!" She screamed as she brought her hand up to her nose and saw blood. "This sucks. WINTER SUCKS! YOU SUCK, WINTER!"

Carter took a deep breath to calm herself and shoved the rest of her sandwich in her mouth as she stumbled to the side of her house. "Ok so I'm bleeding now. No problem. It's a pretty color." She sighed and grabbed a cinder block from the sidewalk and set it down by the dining room window. "This window is always unlocked." She said, remembering that the lock was broken. Unfortunately, the outer screen was in tight. Frustrated, she grabbed the sides of the screen and yanked as hard as she could. The screen popped out of the frame, and she fell backwords, down the hill, and into the snow. "MOTHER FUCKER!" She screamed, tossing the screen to her side and climbing back up the hill.

(Also left out is the fact that when I finally got the window opened, the cat jumped out and knocked me back into the snow again.)

She pressed her hands against the window and pushed upward until it was finally opened the whole way. "Stupid season. Friggin cold. Stupid dad waving at me and driving away." She growled as she heaved herself into the window. Then, she closed the window and went back inside to rest.

Carter walked to the kitchen and stopped, remembering she had left her french fries out in the snow. She sighed and went out the back door to get them. (Can you see this coming?) She bent over, picked up the remainder of her french fries, most of which had been scattered around the yard. When she turned around, she felt her face go completely white when she realized the door had closed behind her. "NO!" She screamed, pulling on the backdoor, hoping it would come open.

She grumbled and threw the rest of her frenchfries across the yard. "God damn stupid freakin son of a bitch." She muttered as she climbed onto her cinder block again and and threw herself through the window.

She brushed herself off and slammed the window shut.

Carter looked down at the muddy, soaking wet carpet. "Oh well, at least I'm inside."

"Hey what was all the noise about outside?"

Carter screamed and turned around in surprise to find Zac holding a half-eaten peanut butter sandwich.

"ZAC! YOU WERE IN HERE THE WHOLE TIME?!"

"Yeah. I was in the living room. You didn't see me?"

"No. I had to go out and get my food and then lock myself out again."

"Why didn't you just use the front door?"

"BECAUSE IT WAS LOCKED!" She screamed and threw her arms into the air.

"No it wasn't." Zac walked to the front door and pulled it open. "See? I used my key to get in. Figured you'd be home soon."

Carter stared at the door. "You mean to tell me, it was unlocked this whole time?"

"Yeah. I heard you on the front porch but I was too tired to get up. I never heard you actually try the door though."

"I assumed it was LOCKED." She screamed and shoved Zac onto the couch. "WHY DIDN'T YOU LET ME IN?!?!?!"

Zac shrieked and guarded his sandwich. "DON'T HURT ME!"

Carter smiled and sat down on the couch next to me. "I won't." She grabbed his sandwich from him and took a huge bite.

"HEY!"

"Hey, you owe me some food after what I just went through."

"I guess you're right." Zac turned on the tv. "Dude, you know your nose is bleeding?"

Carter glared at him and shoved the rest of his sandwich into her mouth.
