Chapter 56

"WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT TOUCHING ME THERE?!"

Isaac backed up about three feet and put his hands in the air. "Whoa. Somebody's up a little too early for their own good. And I didn't even touch you. You turned the corner, like usual, and you ran into me."

"Shut up." Carter pushed her messed hair back and twisted it into a little ponytail.

"Why are you here this early anyway?"

"Cause I promised I'd clean Zac's room for him cause he's not allowed too cause of the dust and all the work. And you know how it is cleaning Zac's room."

Isaac nodded. "7 hour ordeal."

"Yeah so. I'm gonna go get started." Carter gave Isaac an evil look.

"WHAT?! I didn't even do anything."

"I know you were thinking of touching my boob again."

"Dammit, Car, I didn't touch your boob. I didn't even come anywhere near your boob this time. Last time, maybe. But after you threated to run my nuts through a cheese grater.... I'm afraid to walk anywhere near you."

Carter smiled. "And you should." She patted him on the shoulder. And went to Zac's room. "Let's you know your place in the scheme of things."

When she knocked on Zac's door, there was no answer, so she walked in and started picking dirty clothes off of the floor.

Zac stirred and rolled onto his side. He watched Carter for a couple minutes, staying quiet. She looked adorable in his old white sweatpants and a white tanktop. She only ever wore pants in the winter time and even then, they annoyed the hell out of her. "You can throw all the dirty clothes out in the hallway for now."

Carter jumped and turned around. "Scare the crap out of me why don't you."

"Sorry, I know it's too early for you to communicate with humans."

"Yeah, don't bug me until noon."

Zac smiled and watched her as she tossed about three tons of clothes into the hallway.

"Wait, this is mine." Carter pulled a white sweater from the pile. "Did you steal this?"

"No, you were wearing it last month and you changed in here." He laughed. "Remember, you made me turn around while you rummaged through my drawers for something to wear."

"Oh yeah." Carter smiled and crawled over to his bed. "Ok I don't think I wanna know what's under here. But I have to pull everything out and throw it in the middle of the floor if I'm gonna organize it."

"But I know where everything is." He whined. "See that pair of scissors over there on the floor? Those are my emergency scissors."

"So we'll put them in a drawer."

"Then they take longer to get out!"

Carter glared at him. "Do you wanna clean? Or do you want me to do it." She scooted until her head was under the bed and then she screamed. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"

"What?"

"THAT!" She backed up and pointed to the corner of the wall that his bed was up against.

"Oh, my hairball."

"Hairball?"

"Yeah. I'm saving it."

"You know what? We're just gonna leave that down there." She put her arms back under the bed and pulled out a plate with a cup stuck to it. "Last years breakfast?"

"Two weeks ago."

"Ah." She pulled out various items including a monkey wrench, a copy of teen magazine, 4 pairs of clean socks, 3 dirty socks, a pair of girly purple underwear, a bag of blue marshmallows, 7 hairy crackers, a tube of toothpaste, and half a rabbits foot. Then, she stopped suddenly, backed away from the bed and looked at Zac, scared. "Zac, why the hell do you have a...."

Zac blushed. "It's Taylor's. I swear."

Carter laughed. "Right." She shrugged. "Althought that would make more sense. Ok, so how about your closet." She walked to the door and yanked on it. Nothing, she pulled again, as hard as she could. "Zac, your closet doesn't open."

"Yeah I know."

She thought long and hard, never once remembering seeing his closet door open. "What's in there?"

He shrugged. "I dunno. I haven't been able to open it since I was like... 7."

Carter laughed. "And you never got the urge to like, pick ax your way in?"

"Nope. What could be in there that could be so important? I don't think I ever put much in there anyway. I didn't have closety clothes back then."

Carter walked over to his drawer, where she knew he kept a rubber sledge hammer for some unknown region (Probably the same reason my friend keeps a plunger in the trunk of her car.. and the same reason I keep an emergency meat mallot in the crack of my bed), and ran back to the door with an evil grin on her face.

Zac lept off of the bed and grabbed the sledge hammer from her hands. "NO! This is SACRED! You just can't go whacking your way into my closet with the sacred hammer!"

Carter shrugged. "Ok." She took her fist and pounded it into the door once. "This always works." Then she twisted the nob, and it opened with ease.

"Whoa. You're a magical magical woman."

"Yes I know." She grinned and walked into the closet. "Uhm... Zac... you were a really weird kid."

"This I've been told."

"No. You were... really really weird."

"Wait, what's in there."

Carter walked out of the closet and held up two barbie dolls. One had a Ken head, and the other, had no hair, and her boobs were chopped off. "Play toys?"

"OH MY GOSH!" He screamed and grabbed the barbies. "I always wondered where they got too!"

Carter shook her head in disbelief and went back into the closet. "Ok.. what's this?" She held up a stack of papers.

"MY DRAWINGS!"

"You drew these? You mean... the insanity went back that far?"

Zac stuck out his tongue and looked through the various superheroes with 7 heads, snakes with legs, and... "Heh. Look." He held up a picture of a little person with extremely large breasts.

"What the heck is that?"

"This would be you."

"THAT IS NOT ME!"

Zac nodded. "This is what I drew you to look like in 10 years." He held the picture up to her chest. "Well... I was wrong."

Carter slapped him and went back into the closet. "Do you realize, there is some... funky funky food in here?"

"FOOD?! WHERE!"

"Zac, it's like... 8 years old."

"It could still be good."

"Yeah ok." Carter laughed. "Alright, back to cleaning. Now at least I have a place to put all of your stuff."

"Yeah right. And you'll close the closet door and I'll never see it again. Just leave everything on the floor. That's where I like it."

Carter pushed Zac down on the bed. "You shut up, and sleep. I'll clean."

Zac mumbled and went under his covers. "Fine, but I can't watch."

Carter laughed and went back to dragging things out of corners, and closets.
